I was 7 wks post-op, doing everything I’ve been told. Hubby and I were ‘standing’ next to the pool. Btw this was only days ago this took place. My replacement was March 13th and went ‘perfectly!’ I heard/felt a pop and hit the pavement before I could blink. Traumatized to say the least. My hubby and son were in shock. I must have had adrenaline surging because I was calm and quietly asked hubby to call 911, tell them my new hip just dislocated and then someone please hold my leg still because I can’t and it’ll flop over. It was an ordeal in my backyard, then the E/R and finally the O/R, all needing many attempts to reset it. I was knocked out a few times thankfully. My surgeon has seen me since and is beside himself. He’s a great surgeon and did my knee replacement in 2019. He’s consulting with his partner etc to see if something was missed or?? In the meantime, I’m in a lot of pain from the fall and reset. I’m on a walker again (58) yrs old btw. Tomorrow, I’m going for CT Scan/x-rays for my back also due to the pain. It may just be bruised but regardless, the big question remains, ….. WHAT caused it to simply ‘pop out?’ Yet it was a nightmare to get back in?? Mind boggling to all of us. I definitely have PTSD because I’m terrified to move, especially take a shower. Until we have an answer, all I picture is this repeating and me being here alone, which I usually am. I’m scared to death and I HAVE to get past that fear. My family’s also a wreck. Just a traumatizing experience nonetheless which none of us saw coming. Scary…….

I have five stainless steel screws in my right arm, is that normal to not take them out?

Happened to me 2 weeks after THR (5 weeks ago), had to be sedated twice to get it back in. Thankfully hasn’t happened again but also haven’t done anything other than walking, PT not advised at this time.

i have 7 screws 1 titanium plate at my right ankle after motorbike accident in 1993, I have no issues of it staying inside, in fact I dont feel its presence as if it perfectly integrated as part of my bone. I guess it is normal they are staying for life

Just happened to my mom yesterday, and the doctor put it back, I’m afraid if she needs another surgery because she has AML and the first one was very difficult for her

And you know the person didn't need a hip replacement, you want to bill that insurance company and get paid

Well the muscles, tendons and ligaments are very weak by those people needing hip replacement.
