Center - Day 5 - Hug

My practice has shown me and continues to teach me all the ways in which I can absorb my own care for myself. And my journey in neuroscience has helped me to back up all the reasons why hugging your self matters. Meditate on this as you move today.

High fives all around! Seriously. We are doing this!

For some, today’s theme may seem a little cheeky.
But have you ever stopped
to ponder the power
of what it is like
to feel your own embrace?

How is everyone feeling so far? We are almost a week in on this beautiful journey. Enjoy each step of the way of this live practice, because it does go by so fast.
For all the "older" yogis out there I wanted to say you really should be proud of yourself for doing this! I'll be 55 in a couple of days and I was researching all the great benefits yoga has for us as we get older. There are so many wonderful things it does for our body and mind.
Everyone keep up the good work and here's to good health for us all in 2023! Day 5 let’s go!💜

My parents were in their mid 70s when they started yoga with Adriene. It’s helping my dad with his injuries so he can continue to be mobile and do the things he loves. It’s so cute because they do a daily practice together so I bought them “yoga pants” for a gift. They were so happy wearing them and my dad asked “am I officially a yogi now?” Well, not technically, but it was through them I found this practice.

Dear fellow yogis, and especially Adrienne, today I had a breakthrough! First time ever I lowered to the floor from plank without "collapsing" in the end !! I already feel a tad bit stronger and my posture is getting more centered <3
I am currently battling a depression (not that I am sad, but depressions come in many sizes) due to long time stress. I have been struggling to finish what I have started, but yesterday I finished my first crochet sweater and this yoga challenge is next on my " to complete " list <3
Thank you - Namaste.

Hello all, I am struggling with depression and anxiety and this (being able to commit, taking care of myself, feeling part of a community ) has become the best part of my day. I never thought I could feel so loved by myself, so embraced. It really helps to read everyone’s journey also, so I thought I’d Share mine in case someone else is struggling too ❤

What you said today about hugging ourselves to bring ourselves through life is exactly what I needed to hear, thank you Adriene!! Day five done!!

5 days in a row. That's probably the most yoga I have done consecutively in my life. I found this week to be a week of discovery. Discovering myself, my strengths and weaknesses not just physically, also mentally and emotionally. While I am lying on the mat actively listening to Adriene, I find my mind unwrapping my burning questions. Where am I? Who am I? What do I want? 5 days of focusing on the thing that matters most. Me. This some trippy stuff. Namaste.

I lost my job today. And seeing this practice makes me realize at least not everything in my life is crumbling. At least I still have my big yoga hug from Adrienne 👍

I’m loving the challenge of this 30 Day journey! I’m turning 65 at the end of this month and know staying consistent with this practice will help me be a healthier, happy person. I started practicing consistently with Adriene last year and her encouragement has changed my focus, mind, and body. I practice first thing in the morning and have a clear mind and a calm heart and a restored body. Thank you, Adriene! You are such a giving soul. You are making the world a better place by helping us find what feels good. Namaste❤

Felt so held in my self-hug that I started crying. Today was awesome.
And the space for kindness was just what I needed. It's the first day of spring and the sun is shining. Let's go!

- I feel nervous about overworking my body
- I feel hopeful ❤️

All feelings valid and all welcomed on this journey. Thank you Adriene for this blessed practice

🌞 Day 5 🌞…and day 2 of practicing on my period. Anyone else?🩸
Did I get fooled by the title thinking this was a restorative gentle practice? Oh yes, I did hahaha! And the traditional day 6 tomorrow… ahhh help! But it’s honestly fine. I know I can always adapt and every practice can be a gentle one if you’re kind to yourself. Proud of all of us for showing up. Thank you Adriene, Benji and the whole team for these videos! <3

Shout out to anyone doing this 30 day challenge while dealing with chronic pain and illness like me. Please give yourself grace and compassion if you are modifying. I personally am having really bad back pain so I have been doing cat/cow, baby pose or half plank during most of the planks and knee crunches. I refuse to shame myself for this or compare myself to others. We have enough hurt to deal with let's not add to it. 😉😘

Anyone else burst into tears at that first hug? Or was that just me? I obviously really needed that. Thank you x

As a neurodivergent person with ADHD suffering from recurring depression, I find that the only time my mind is truly quiet is when I practice yoga. To go from a mind filled with busy noise and self-doubt to an empty, almost warm feeling is something I will always cherish! Thank you for making me re-discover my love for yoga every year. :)

Did anyone else see the title “Hug” and think “ohhh a chill, cuddly practice” 😂 Another great one though! I love seeing how strong I’ve gotten in just five days ☺️

I have CFS so there was a lot of today’s practice I couldn’t do, but I’ve committed to turning up every day even if I then spend the practice just sitting on my mat and watching. I love the feeling that we’re all here together and practising in our own ways. My mantra for this year is “I can make this practice my own”.

I’m 65 years old, 6 months into retirement and doing yoga for the first time in my life. I am so happy I signed up for this 30 day journey with Adrienne. I’m feeling very positive about how the first 5 days have gone. This practice has given me opportunity to push and challenge myself, and to self reflect as I move forward in a new chapter in my life. Thank you to everyone for your open and accepting comments.

I was doing this practice in my living room and my brother and mom came to tease me and hugged me when. I was hugging myself in the beginning. We laughed it was so much fun and so sweet
