As the pandemic continues, it’s not uncommon for clients (and sometimes practitioners) to become overwhelmed by feelings of despair.

And those feelings may grow even stronger this holiday season as many people won’t be able to share it with their loved ones.

Peter Levine, PhD, shares a quick, simple exercise that your client can use if they begin to feel overwhelmed by despair.

Dr. Levine is THE MAN for somatic PTSD healing!
I love these simple, free exercises. They allow survivors of trauma to take control of their own healing.

This technique reminds me of the “OM” in yoga. Thank you for reminding us the connection of the breath, voice, vibration, aural, and physical sensations and how we’re equipped with the tools...we just need to remember how to use them.

I don’t know what works best for me: if doing the exercise or just listening to the man. Thank you Dr. Levine 🙏🏼

Very nice. And in no small way because it’s wrapped in the gentleness and care of Dr Levine himself. Thank you!

I was sceptical about this. I've done meditation before and know that focusing on the breath can help you relax. But I tried it anyway for a few times and I think I actually feel different. The feelings of despair have eased. I'm impressed.

Amazing that this isn’t taught to all health care professionals. I meet so many diffrent ones due to traumas and then PTSD for years. Had to try to heal myself. This would have helped me from so much suffering.

as I watch this video, what arises in me,
is longing and desire
and an immense and intense
ache inside my soul...

I pray magical blessings

in the lives of myself

and my true love (that I am yet to meet).

may him and I, both experience magical transformation
and new levels of enlightenment and bliss...

and may that lead us to each other, very-very soon!

and may you, as well, beloved reader, be blessed, too...

Similar is the pranayama technique Bhramari (humming bee), where you make an humming sound on the outbreath. Works good on anxiety and to calm the mind.

To enhance this even more, do it to the rhythm of a fibonacci sequence - for example make the in breath 5 counts, then the out breath 8. This can stay simple (3 -5) or more complex - up to 8-13 and beyond, as long as the outbreath is fully released as he says. 🙂

after listening to the whole thing, if you want to do directly to the exercise, begin around 2:38

Nice. This re-sets the parasympathetic nervous system and lowers blood pressure, All this co-ordinates the heart and nervous system - to be "Heart/mind". Definitely a beneficial kind of pranayama to rest more in 'being' than in some grasping and rejecting mindset that has a goal that the mind will never attain. Thanks Peter. Metta.

Literally just want to hear how to feel and RELEASE stored trauma and every video I find just gives back story and definitions for the first half. Thank you doc, thank you...anything is better than nothing.
