Proper treadmill running form is important for a number of reasons, including:

Reduces your risk of injuries. When you run with proper form, you're less likely to put stress on your joints and muscles, which can lead to injuries.
Improves your running performance. When you run with proper form, you're able to run more efficiently and comfortably. This means you can run faster and for longer periods of time.
Makes running more enjoyable. When you run with proper form, you're less likely to feel pain or fatigue. This means you're more likely to stick with your running routine and enjoy your workouts.
Here are some of the specific benefits of proper treadmill running form:

Reduces knee pain. When you land with your midfoot or forefoot, you're less likely to put stress on your knees. This is because your foot absorbs less impact when you land with your forefoot.
Improves posture. Good running form helps to improve your posture by engaging your core and upper body. This can help to prevent back pain and other postural problems.
Increases efficiency. When you run with good form, you're able to run more efficiently. This means you're able to run faster and for longer periods of time without getting tired.
If you're looking to improve your treadmill running form, there are a few things you can do:

Start by warming up. This will help to loosen up your muscles and prepare them for running.
Focus on your posture. Keep your back straight and your core engaged.
Land with your midfoot or forefoot. Avoid landing on your heels, as this can put stress on your knees.
Swing your arms naturally. Don't lock your elbows or swing your arms too forcefully.
Keep your head up and your eyes looking forward. Don't look down at the ground or at your feet.
Run at a comfortable pace. Don't try to go too fast too soon, as this can lead to injuries.
With a little practice, you can develop good treadmill running form and enjoy a safe and healthy workout.

The awesome thing about form tips is that running has really grown due to more people progressing in their routines and not being incapacitated with overuse injuries. Running is arguably the most applicable and conditioning style of cardio, and it’s a shame that a lot of people give up on it or don’t even start because they’ve heard from others about how infeasible running is.

As long as you don’t have mileage for 24/7 marathon training and just run to run or race, good form with running can be done from youth all the way to senior age. Look at Joan Benoit from the 1984 olympics still putting in hella miles.

I spent last year going from dry heaving PPL split gym bro to a comfortably hybrid physique person, and I credit Chari for her tips. This year imma do a full marathon so I’ve laid out a 30 week slow ass training period and seeing where it takes me.

I don't quite understand what knee drive is except for the height of the heels behind you, but it's cool to see that once you adjust it you actually catch up on the treadmill and get closer to the front. Proves it's efficiency

Fascinating to learn late in life that running is so much about technique …Thanks, Chari!

I feel like step one is being able to run long enough to do any of these.

Hi! You may never see this comment but I would like to thank you nevertheless!

I am from a small state in the northeast part of India and we are known for our mongoloid features. ( PS- we are often misled as a foreigner in our own country)

I am from a typical Asian household where we have to sacrifice everything for academic excellence. But here I am, running only at the age of 25 years old and it has stuck to my lifestyle for fours years . I started out late, but I enjoyed it! Your tactics, advices and suggestions have been the sole guide for me in my “running” and make my whole experience a lot more worthwhile. I always take notes of all your tips and suggestions and it has helped me a great deal everyday, where I escape from the shenanigans of the world and focus on myself and myself only. Thank you ❤
