Correct Running Position For Your Hips #runningtips

Correct running form is important for several reasons:

Reduces risk of injury: Proper form helps reduce the risk of injury, particularly to the knees, ankles, and feet. It helps prevent overuse injuries that can result from poor alignment, such as runner's knee, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints.

Increases efficiency: When you have correct running form, you use less energy to cover the same distance. This is because you're able to run more efficiently, using less effort to move forward.

Improves performance: Good running form can improve your running speed and endurance. It can also help you maintain your pace for longer periods of time, making it easier to complete a race or a longer run.

Promotes balance and stability: Good form involves maintaining a stable core, which helps you maintain balance and control as you run.

Enhances breathing: Proper running form can also help improve your breathing, allowing you to take in more oxygen and improve your endurance.

Overall, practicing good running form can help you run more efficiently, comfortably, and safely, and can help you achieve your running goals.

I was wondering where my hip pain was coming from… thank you for this reminder

Just a reminder that you are bouncing a little higher. , on the second position .which is not good for long runs.

This is so very helpful, so clearly demonstrated, as always! YOU are a GEM, Chari! Thank YOU so much for EVERYTHING YOU share! YOU have an AWESOME day of training!

It depends on how far you are running. Your second example certainly is not for distance running.

Back in high school I absolutely hated when it was a running day because I couldn't run more than half a mile without almost dying even though I was in an okay shape...well I have now figured out why, the technique was way off! Slumping over, overstriking, heel landing, you name it. Your videos are eye opening, thanks so much for sharing. I am looking forward to practising and maybe finding the fun in running this summer 😁

Air Force reservist here, and I learned more about technique and running from your videos than I have my entire career.😔 I've been doing it wrong the entire time, now I'm trying to relearn the proper way. Thank you for your tips.

I love that that you are sharing decades of professional coaching and experience with everyone. These exercises are soundly based on running biomechanics. You should market these elements in your own training programs.

This one video changed everything. The slow motion to see where your feet are placed blew my mind 🤯
Thank you! Currently nursing a back injury but this makes me want to go out and run!

A wise man once told me that the position you take while running is a reflection of how you stand normally. If you want to improve your position while running then improve the way you stand during the day and automatically your running position will improve. This wise man was very wise.

So alot of the things you teach, I do naturally. While in the army I was scolded and corrected! I went from running 4.5 min miles to 5 min 30 second miles. I was made to make my heel strike the ground and open up my stride. It was like slaming on the brakes with every stride!

Right position of hips for regular running is closer to the first option but just wrong trunk position. Second option I believe just for sprinters

So many contradicting opinions out there. For distance running the second one is wrong too since you’re still placing your foot out in front of you. Necessary for a sprint but highly inefficient for long runs.
