Pause reps are what grew my bench a lot

Remember when you pause don’t rest the bar on your chest; keep the tension there.

A tip for gymbros
Using it I increased 1 RM from 180 to 376 for 3 years
Every single rep (even on warmup) go down slow, 1-2 seconds pause on the chest, push fast
This form gives you total control of the bar, explosive start and muscle grow
And remember
NO FAILURE REPS IN POWERLIFTING!
Always keep 1-3 reps reserve

Good tip! I just hit a 255lb bench press after being stuck @225. What helped me was skull crushers 💀 and close grip bench press to build up my triceps to get past my sticking-point.

I'm so glad your tips consist of how to get stronger rather than cheats to make the bench press easier

Im up to repping 225 with no spot, i focused on controlling 205 for 6-9 reps for about 8 months, staying at 205 and decreasing rest times when it got easy.

THANK YOU. Finally, a short, simple video, giving a simple, probably effective tip for increasing bench press that isn’t rocket science and is literally explained in 20 seconds. “Simplicity is the key to brilliance” ~ Bruce Lee.

Pause reps and I’ve seen recently in a study training bench powerfully improves strength gains a lot so I’ve started incorporating that to see how it plays out

Heres a tip, I put around 15 lbs on my pr each month, I start with 80% of 1 rm for 3 x 5 then 60% for 3 x 17.

Putting your legs up on the bench helps you activate your chest 100%; helps avoid back arching, if you can warm up with your body weight that will also help you sky rocket your bench, working on your tricep strength also helps.

If you want strength gains, arching your back helps your bench press because you distribute the weight to your shoulder blades giving you more strength to press. Most powerlifters will support that arching your back will increase your overall bench press performance. Make sure you pause for one second when the bar touches your chest. Change your routine up, don't always start bench pressing with the bar on the top. Start sometimes with the bar already at chest level, push the bar up and finish back at chest level.
