Is It Better to Drink a Little Alcohol Than None at All?

Even if alcohol causes cancer and there is no “French paradox,” what about the famous J-shaped curve, where yes, excessive drinking is bad, but light drinkers appear to actually have lower mortality than abstainers?

Thanks for watching. I hope you’ll join in the evidence-based nutrition revolution!

These videos are more exciting than crime tv shows, it's like investigative nutritional research

To paraphrase Dr. John McDougall, we love to hear things that encourage our addictions. Don’t fall for the alcohol industry’s lies.

Good! I’m not a drinker and don’t want to be. It’s a poison and I love my life and don’t need to escape it.

Wow so glad I watched this. I have been cycling a glass of organic red wine (usually pinot noir) 1-3 times a week over the last 5 years thinking that it would improve my health. What I noticed is that every time I had a glass of red wine it felt like I was damaging myself slightly, especially in my gut, like it would give me cramps, bloating, dehydration, etc, usually every time. I have been thinking, this cannot be good for me, but yet i still kept it up because of all the info on the internet saying a glass of wine a day is good for you. After watching this video, I am now done with it. Thanks.

I don’t drink and I’m Irish, and oh boy the amount of strange looks I’ve gotten when I tell people at social events. The fact is I feel more comfortable being sober when socializing, how people find that less acceptable than someone who can’t socialize without drinking speaks volumes.

I was in Vegas for my 21st birthday and didn’t drink at all, while everyone else celebrated by drinking. I’ve never wanted to drink, and never will. It’s amusing how everyone else thinks this is weird.

I'm glad this was cleared up! I'm on a journey to the healthiest possible diet, and I've been bothered about the supposed health benefits of alcohol. I don't like any alcoholic beverage, so I'm glad that I can keep not consuming it.

A drink a day is considered light consumption? What's moderate consumption then, getting drunk every day?

Society needs to quit romanticizing alcohol and connecting its consumption to sophistication. There's nothing sophisticated about slow suicide and drunk driving.

RIght, I've been sober for over a decade now, but I still might have liver damage from all the decades of alcohol abuse from the years before. My main reason to quit was that I was sometimes hung-over for 3 days after one night of "party".
