I've had a bulging disc that pinches my nerve for about 8 years. This video has helped me more than anything else.

I have a lower back hernia. It feels the same as sciatica but the nerve pain was continious and unbearable. I've had different kinds of therapy. None of them actually worked, because they focused on pain relief, and not on core strenght. Then I got a 'TENS' (Transcutane Electric Neuro Stimulator). This helped me off my pain and off the meds (morfine). I still feel it sometimes, but I'm trying to focus on core strenght now but I don't have the motivation to do every excercise everyday. My job involves standing, walking and lifting so I just try to keep my back fine with lifting good and standing straight. I'm only 24 and they found the hernia when I was 18... Nobody believed me when I said the school chairs hurt my back. It wasn't an excuse. It fucked up my back and nobody cared. Too many people have (lower) back pain these days. We're sitting way too much and moving not enough. I would never want a desk-job because I know my hernia will kick in again. Last resort for me would be surgery, but there's risks to that which I'm not willing to take at this age.
Nerve pain is the worst pain I can imagine. A kick in the balls is less painfull. There were times I didn't want to live anymore and I was weak from the medication but the pain stayed immense. Worst time of my life.

Been in unbearable pain for 4 out of 5 past years. Out of work the whole time. Finally figured out that gaining muscle mass and strength is the ONLY thing that can fix it. Been working out since the start of this year after getting strong enough to work out pain free after years of walking and aerobics. Progress has rocketed. Put on 12kg. Legs and back are so strong I can do pistol squats now

Craz, I woke up sciatic pain shooting down my leg this morning. I haven’t had the pain for a few months but after an extra long work day… there it is. I’m definitely trying this tonight.

I have these symptoms exactly. Thank you for the help.

Is there anyway you could create a video with a exercise routine to fix this?

I had multiple disc protrusions and I’d say it isn’t that bad of a problem if you’re young .
Stay hydrated ( really relieves morning sciatica ), traction, McGills big 3 helps, stabilise spine ( aka don’t compress it and keep it straight for the most part, use lumbar belt if required )

One thing not mentioned here- get your hips checked as well. My brother went to a chiropractor for a year, plus several drs, and no one could figure it out till finally a specialist figured out his hip was gone……got a hip replacement, and the sciatica was 100% gone

Just did it with leg extensions and head extension. My lower back is already feeling better.

I have this but its from congenital spinal stenosis. What helped me the most was squats, lunges and exercises that strengthen my core.

Sciatica isn’t just a one fix issue. It can stem from numerous things. I had herniated discs in my L4 and L5. I recently had another disc issue and it was my L5/S1. Prolonged sitting can create sciatica as well, with poor posture. Sitting for long times can put wear and tear on your hip flexors. For the men out there, make sure you’re keeping the hip flexors well stretched otherwise it’ll pull on your pelvis and dramatize back pain. Make sure to regularly stretch, lift from the waist up using a straight back and really utilize your thighs in a squat when lifting. Make sure to stand and walk occasionally and not sit too much. Your discs are directly effected by dehydration. So make sure you’re drinking plenty. Avoid stretches that bend the spine if you suspect you’ve got a herniated disc.
