I grew up
In the 60’s. Mom cooked dinner every night after she got home from her desk job. We always had a meat, veg, starch, & salad (either fruit or lettuce) and desert. The food was great. The portions were much smaller than today. We always set the table and ate together. There was plenty to keep us up past bedtime with books, magazines, cards, solitaire, etc. i think the main difference was the portion sizes. A plate was not packed full and heaped high. A meat portion was probably a quarter pound. A veg or salad portion was about a 3rd cup. A regular size pie would be cut into. 8 pieces. I rarely recall having seconds of anything. I do not recall feeling “stuffed” on a regular basis. Another common “rule” during the 60’s was that you were not supposed to eat between meals. That was a major thing. It was common for kids to ride bikes to the store and buy some candy. But we would buy 1 item and eat it on the spot. We weren’t supposed to “spoil” our dinner with between meal treats. Having a snack was not a thing. Linch was usually a sandwich with some chips or a piece of fruit and a dessert. If a dessert was packaged cookies, we would have 2 or 3 cookies. We did eat Twinkies, Ding-dongs and cupcakes with our lunches. But we had 1 of those. They were packaged 2 to a pack, but we usually ate one item. These meals were pretty typical if I ate at friend’s houses. Grazing was not a thing.

As a retired nurse I’m learning so much useful information from your channel. I had no idea how little protein I’ve been eating the last 10 years! Also never knew that Greek yogurt was higher in protein. I’ve been basing my intake on old outdated info that I was taught in nursing school(I graduated in 1980)! I love your make it easy approach because I start out gung-ho but after a week or so if it’s too much calculating or eating things I don’t like just because they are healthy it’s not sustainable. I ordered your protein powders because the ones I have taste nasty. I really feel like some of this stubborn weight I gained post gallbladder surgery I can now get off. Also as a retired person your suggestion of 250 steps every hour is a game changer and gets me off my duff😅. Sorry that this was long!!❤

So much valuable info! The part about GLP1 and eating more fiber is 🎯 right on. These days, because I cut out all real and substitute sugars, stick to IFing 16-8 and eat more cruciferous veggies, my hunger/appetite does not sabottage me anymore. Thank you Autumn for your amazing videos, they all make so much sense. ❤️🙏❤️👍❤️💪❤️

I’m having such a hard time staying under my daily fat percent when I’m eating the whole protein sources. Yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, cashews - all have lots of fats. Of course I’m eating chicken, beef, etc too.
Any help you can give on this would be great. Love your videos. Thanks!

Hi Autumn thanks for another great video. So for the last month or less I have hit a plateau . I have been doing some research on the egg fast. Would you recommend or suggest it? I want to try it to get that boost for 3 days. Let me know please

Cracks me up every time she says protein is so filling. It’s not for me but I also can’t eat the volume she recommends at one sitting. Increasing my protein has helped me lose body fat and a little weight. That does help me being post menopause.

I recently came across your cottage cheese/blueberry bowl and have been wanting to try it but I've heard for years how inflammatory dairy is. What is your take on that?

I’ve recently started targeting 90 Ish grams of protein per day and keeping my carbs very low. It’s easy to keep the carbs low when you’re pushing so much protein. I make homemade yogurt, and I have no idea how to best calculate the amount of protein. It’s made with whole milk, and I do strain out some of the way, but I don’t know how to measure the way that I’ve strained and then know how much protein I have left per serving. Wasn’t sure if you might be able to help. Thanks for the amazing information.
