I am at a weight that I am happy with and I fast. Not because I want to lose weight but because fasting is great for your gut microbiome for people with digestive issues and fasting (I would say no more than once a week) actually improves your metabolism!

I've done 7-8 days water fast.
And i can say that it's not just the breath, the ketones also leave through sweat and urine.
The smell aint nice, but it's a great indicator that the body has switched fo full fat burning...the liver and intestines love it

I gain weight in Ramadan, you gain weight if you eat more calories than you burn, meaning if ur gonna eat 1day of food through the night like me ur not losing weight .

I have a 23 hour fasting, and 1 hour eating window. (O.M.A.D, one meal a day, extreme type of fasting, but it's worth it as long as you have a high protein diet)

Been doing keto for a few years. The breath isn’t a real factor, just brush your teeth and stay hydrated.

Also I have done multiple 7-day fasts. Only consumed water, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and magnesium) and black coffee. On average I loose 12-15 lbs (mostly water weight, about half) but fasting is definitely a good way to burn fat quick, reduce inflammation, reset your metabolism, and challenge yourself.

prolonged fasting may lead to weight gain bc if an individual does not eat for extended periods glucose levels will drop but once you eat again you may unintentionally overindulge in food which may cause in a large spike of glucose which in turn will cause you to have very strong cravings (when glucose spikes over a certain limit cravings tend to get stronger since your body wants to maintain that high glucose level you got from eating a large meal). Many specialist recommend to not fast for too long since long fasting periods may also trigger the body's natural response to periods of food scarcity leading the body to store more fat in case of new situations where food is not available.
Main take-away: fast safely, if you feel it is too much it probably is.

Last ramadan i fasted the whole month while running pretty often and i lost 5kg (which is about 10 pounds)in just a month

This is why it is mandatory in Islam to fast for one full month(Ramadan). To put foot on on shoes of poor families and also be healthy.
