Peeps don't hold your breath. You can definitely do TVA (stomach vacuums) while breathing. If you're breathing throughout the exercise, you'll get better results.

She's doing it wrong. What you need to do is do contract your muscles, holding your breath helps but its not necessary also you need to be standing in a straight position. It actually works, I do it and it helps with bloating and its perfect for me cause Im kinda lazy and dont like abdominals! Its the best to do by morning with an empty stomach!

Yes this does work to some degree, its called stomach vacuums which builds our transverse abdominis. If you don't train your abs then over time this muscle kind of loses out giving you that "belly" appearance. So this will strengthen that but won't give you any drastic changes

Also its completely safe

Edit: For all the people saying its not safe or it will leave scars or smtg. Stomach vacuums are actually a legit exercise which helps your core get stronger. it won't leave any scars or anything like that

It Actually works, i do it and it helps with bloating and it's perfect for me because I'm kinda lazy and don't like abdominals! It's the best thing to do by morning with an empty stomach!

Let me give some advices,

Do this stomach vaccum for only 30 seconds because holding for 1 min is hard, Do it 3-4 times a day (Not after meals because it can damage your intestine)

If stomach vaccum does not work then try out cycling, running, exercises

If this also doesn't work start with an actual workout (Gym, trainee).

If none works then follow a diet along with workout/exercise

My personal weight losing plans:
I dance on k-pop songs for like 45 mins or an hour. I DO NOT follow a diet which consists of avoiding junk food, I consume junk food but not always. Weight losing/Slimming down can be done by doing diets but not the salad ones, My personal rule is EAT A LOT but KEEP YOURSELF ACTIVE AND HEALTHY. Finally I do the stomach vaccuming for 2-3 mins every day (WITH BREAKS).
If you're between 10-20 This will work really well for you because you've started at a young age.

-I'm saying this as a person with abs

This comment section ugghhh ! Guys this is actually called "stomach vacuum" many old japanese monks have been doing this for a long time and according to them it's a great exercise for breathing purpose and helping your body relax ! It's been done for years and those who did it for long terms actually live long and healthy too! So stop spreading misinformation! And yes it helps to reduce size of waist ! It's my own experience!!

Do not "suck your belly in". Instead, engage your transversus abdominis muscle by drawing in your belly button towards your spine. You should also contract your pelvic floor muscles too. Certainly do not hold your breath unless you want to raise your blood pressure. If you want a flat stomach, you'll also need to consider genetics, somatotype, nutrition, hydration and sleep. There are too many amateurs on social media offering poor advice to others that don't even understand the difference between a core workout and abdominal exercise. No, they're not the same. Seek better advice from professionals such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the British Association of Sports and Exercise Science (BASES).

DO NOT DO THIS! It can squish ur organs, I tried this for 2 weeks every day and ended up having the worst stomach pains, I almost went to the hospital
