I work remote and 99% of the time I'm not wearing pants. Needless to say, I'm one of the top performing employee at my company and I'm a month in.

This is one of the best videos I've seen on this topic. Every business owner should watch this. Great work communicating this clearly. I'll share it with our team and audience 👍

Disagree with the dress code and camera on.
Having my camera on is draining for myself. Our top performing employees also keep their camera off.

What if they get results but do these other things?
For me, as long as they get the work done and are respectful to others then it doesn't matter if the camera is on or the other stuff.

A lot of times people have the camera on and they are just not focused, and they are just pretending they are. What if the camera is off and they are doing something better with their time? We all know meetings can be super wasteful with our time too.

Thank you! 🙏

I started binging Alex's videos about a week ago so naturally your stuff is flooding my feed, and I could not be happier.

I just had a crazy one. I hired someone on a day rate and gave them a trial. They passed the trial and I approved the 3 days a week we agreed. They asked if they can bill me by the hour which I am fine with because they can then work the hours they want to make up 3 days a week but they wanted twice the hourly rate compared to the equivalent hourly rate for the 3 days I hired them for. When I questioned it they said we didn’t agree how many hours are in a working day.

To which I said thanks but no thanks.

5:44 Dress out of step. It's a strong point and one that my clients talk about a lot. The difference between what works on-camera vs. in-person is pretty drastic. When you're in person a lot of how people perceive you is through your energy, however, on-camera that connection is much harder to project especially if you aren't the one speaking. Making it's vital for you to pay attention to the details of your personal brand image (wardrobe, hair, makeup, and most importantly your smile). Working remotely can have its challenges but what if we used this time to reframe our own self-identity, try new things, and embrace this new sense of self. ✨I Love how real and raw you and your husband are in videos. Thank you for everything.

Hi Leila, love this! Would love a video on some of the best interview questions for hiring different roles (sales, customer success, executive assistant, etc.).

This was EXCELLENT. I know you hire a lot, so your expertise is GREATLY appreciated. As a business owner, this is a strong baseline to begin with. 😊 Best wishes.

Hi Leila, love your videos! I am wondering about how “role expectations” (you did another video about values -> brand -> dept expectations -> role expectations) plays into these? I’ve been working on putting those together to essentially measure employee performance and let some of things in this video slide because of the rules vs. values concept. I only have two employees and both are performing well so I haven’t experienced any poor performance employees so far.

Slow to respond on Slack has near perfect correlation with being fired.

Thank you, I’m just starting to hire remotely. This is gold.
Can you do one about how you come up with snd assign work / communication style of instructions

Spot on. I had someone called in sick for a week but it turns out she went on a vacation. We didn't even investigate it, just felt something was wrong. It was revealed to us by her own colleague. Lame.

On one hand, your not wrong. However, I sense you are trying to recreate the office environment just remotely. If you have a distributed team, ideally you are working to elevate productivity, and remote work doesnt always mean synchronous work. The ultimate remote team has clearly defined performance metrics that management sets that can be achieved asynchronously - that means it doesnt matter when members work, work still gets done. Quality can also be baked into that model.
