Hi Dr Scmidt, as a recovering opiate addict (6.5 yrs clean!) I was wondering what the long-term effects of opiate induced constipation are going to be? Even with as much clean time as I have, I still struggle with gut issues. I don't know if you can make a video or offer any resources. Thank you my fav fellow Missourian healcare professional!

That makes your other IBS video make more sense. When i was diagnosed, I was told there a ton of potential triggers and causes. Mine is predominantly triggered by stress, but I also had a ton of GI issues after getting multiple different infections in one year and going on multiple rounds of antibiotics. It wrecked a few systems in my body. Building up my micro biome again has not been easy, I'm almost 5 years out from this and finally seeing less occurrences of yeast infections and GI issues.

i have ibd, ovarian cysts(and i have a tilted uterus, so it pushes on my backside including my colon), gerd and anxiety (on anti anxiety meds, but they only stop my panic attacks)
i feel like death ☠️ i was on the process of cutting out wheat (gluten intolerant, not celiac) and milk (lactose intolerant) but i’m in so much pain lately from the cyst that i can only manage to eat pre packaged yogurts healthy choice power bowls and what others feed me😅 tonight i was fed sweet potatoes and breaded cod … it was not the best choice for pain management
