I never thought adding more protein to my diet was gonna make a difference on my body but I was wrong. After 2-3 months on the high protein diet I immediately noticed that my muscles were more defined and bigger. And for some reason my body is loosing more fat while gaining more muscle mass. Before, I always try to cut down on carbs and sweets since I gain body fat fast, then hard for me to burn all that off even with intense cardio. But now that I added more protein to my diet, my body reacts different. All I can say is that it really made a difference. I feel and see the results and continues to surprise me every day.

I am 60 years old and have increased my protein over last couple of months and don't see much change on the scales, but my clothes are fitting more nicely, so it's all good.🤠

I switched to a high protein diet after major surgery and a bone graft, to aid healing. I lost weight without trying.

Thanks. I was stuck on keto, LCHF. Since January I've lost 13kg by eating more protein (around 100), and only the necessary fat from good foods like avocados, olive oil, and oily fish.
now I'm more like LCHP.

Agreed mostly. Disagreed with eating low-fat yogurt; with egg whites only, and with 3-meals a day.

Totally agree - low fat Greek yogurt provides great protein but less calories! So pleased I’m a DD member to be able to read up on the science behind it all - is so reassuring. No food or pharmaceutical companies involved just honest advice 😊

Im a type one diabetic as of 16 years now. Ive recently taken on a high protein low carb/sugar diet. Ive implemented keto protein shakes, with a keto protein coffee in the mornings or before work. I walk to work, a mile one way. Higher protein meats, low bread/carb/starch/fatty foods for my meals. My hemoglobin A1C is currently 11.2. My blood sugar averaging around 350. Recently, after starting this new diet, my sugars are now more commonly in the low 100s range. Still working on cutting out sweets and soda. They are the bane of my life. But ive already shown great results in just a couple days with just my blood sugar.

We have also had free school lunches(From preschool to the end of studies at eventual Universities) since the 60's here in Sweden and the "outcome" was fewer students quitting school and that the students ended up with higher income later in life. It's a really good model to take after.
Cheers 💌🤫

The way he pronounces *protein* makes me want to eat more protein.

Just want to give a thumb up to for the inclusion of vegan/vegetarian options and not being dismissive of plant based diets.

What happened to Low Carb High Fat? Have you converted from the optimal diet? Confused...

About 30g per meal assumes three meals a day. Better is roughly 1g of protein per pounds of ideal body weight. I never have cravings when I keep my protein above 130g.

I have Kwashiorkor disease from malabsorption and need to eat 2-3 times the daily requirement for protein, iron and essential minerals. I eat -8 small meals/snacks a day, when I can keep food down. Unfortunately I also have chronic nausea too. Hopefully one day I will be healthy enough to survive open heart surgery. Protein is important, make sure you get enough.

I’m amazed at just how freaked out some people are over the idea of adding in more protein via lower fat yogurt and egg whites. I think it is pretty clear he was talking about adding in extra protein without the added fat, IF your goal is to lose more weight. If you are happy with your weight as is, go for it. But just take a deep breath and pay attention to the whole message. My two cents.

After 3 years on a low carb/keto diet I have found that there is an optimum level of protein intake for me, definitely not "the more the better". When I am getting too much protein I see gluconeogenesis increase and my blood glucose goes up and ketones drop. I try not to exceed my optimim protein intake as it seems to be counter productive.

I thought people had got over all that "low fat" dairy thing?

I’m trying to eat more protein. But I’m just full, if I really try I might get up to 90 grams/day. Went from strict keto to focusing on protein, still low carb, and moderate fat. I eat as much as I can, but still only land on approx 1000-1200 kcal/day.
