An endocrinologist I saw wanted me to eat 1200 calories and low carb. My PCP said no, that’s too low, let’s find a different endo.

Wow, I was not expecting it to be that high! I’m beginning to see just how distorted our understanding of metabolism and weight loss really is.

I weigh 108 5.3 llbs and dumb me though that starving myself was the only way to lose weight (was 133) and lost 40 pounds (was at 90) and then gained 20 pounds but even by just eating 1, 000 calories I’m still gaining weight… I gain from anything and I tried reverse dieting (did work, but idk why a couple months later the scale kept going up 💀) so idk what to do… I wanna fix my damage metabolism 😭

There’s NOWAY a 5’2, 109 pound woman is burning 1800 calories without any physical activities. Even their BMR is way less than 1400. You may think you’re helping but you’re setting people up for failure 🙄

How do you figure out someone’s metabolic rate?

Everybody’s body is different I’ve been eating 1200 or less calories a day to try to kickstart my weight loss and I feel healthy and have lots of energy whenever I try to follow “the perfect meal plan” I don’t lose weight or I gain it. So what may work for some doesn’t work for everyone you also have to include the fact that not everyone is going to be able to fit a workout in or have time to get 10, 000 steps a day due to work or having a busy family life at home. If I eat the recommended 2000 calories a day I don’t lose weight and I just feel bloated and tired.

ive been eating below my bmr for 5 months. I know my metabolism is probably adapted. If I reverse diet back up to my new weights tdee will I gain weight?

A 5’2 109 pound woman burns less than 1100 in BMR. if she does very light activity, she’d burn 200-300 more. 1200-1400 calories are enough for a short woman who is sedentary. 1800 is what I burn as a very active 5’7 130 pound woman who walks 10-12k steps every single day and works out 4x per week. This video is complete bs spewed by fat acceptance crowd. It’s so easy to track and verify all this using a pedometer but still these people lie through their teeth because we are lazy to fact check. No wonder we are staying big as hell.

I eat 600-800 that's around my maintenance I'm anorexic my metabolism is ruined. There's supposed to be risk of kidney failure though. I exercise t hours daily to lose weight. I'm gradually trying to cycle back up. If I can maintain at 800 I'll stay there I gained weight if I ate anywhere near 2000 sad fact

What about a women who is 5’4 and 90 lbs ?
They are a small individual . How much would they need to maintain their weight give or take ?

Her BMR is 1459 *because she is *already active. If she was lazy, and sat all day, her BMR would be like 1200. The "extra" calories she "needs" are already factored into her BMR Naturally, thanks to her Metabolism. No need to push extra food on a 5 foot 2 girl lol.

I was eating less for a long time, and it did a significant amount of damage to my life & digestive system & entire body.

I eat double what I used to, and hopefully doubling it again. I'm very small, a bit under 5'1,
When I was healthy, I ate so much. Way more than 1200! Easily 3000+ at times when I was active & strong.

I struggle immensely to eat half that now, and hope it's enough to repair my very underweight body & look forward to having a healthy metabolism & getting my muscles back.

Just sayin, being small, you still need more calories than a small child. I understand that's difficult for some of us, though.

Most Americans are sedentary, not getting up and moving around

Some people eat less than others people have different metabolisms and if you are eating at a calorie deficit to lose fat then 1200 is a good goal
