Thank you for sharing! I believe the fact that yoga nidra/NSDR is being verified by EEG brain scans gives it so much potential for being offered not only in private practice counseling settings but also in community service boards and other public mental health agencies where the practices can reach people in need who may not have had access to it otherwise. So many heartfelt possibilities here…

I really think working in mainstream schools would be incredible. Staff are often under extreme stress which also gets passed on to students and they end up in vicious circle of sharing heightened emotions in a negative way. I would love to speak with someone on how a whole school could take on a basic approach and see how this can develop with in a whole school.

The practice of psychology is regulated in North America and elsewhere. As such, Psychologists would consult scientific literature to determine whether a particular practice has been tested for efficacy for mental health conditions. If Psychologists are offering yoga nidra in their sessions, then they have been certified to do so and have evaluated the costs and benefits of a practice for their client. As a Psychologist, I am not aware of any efficacy studies, but I will look. I do recommend yoga nidra to clients as a relaxation tool, including Ally's videos, as there are many available products on the market and clients often consider yoga when they have difficulty relaxing.
