I'm always a fan of having a Plan B lined up (even when you're not worried about being laid off or fired and you're in a job you love and not a toxic AF job). Do you have a plan B (or have you updated your resume and LinkedIn)?

If they give you inadequate training, they're setting you up to fail and get fired.

I hate working for companies. It's like being back in highschool. Too much gossip and bullshit.

Getting fired from a toxic job is a blessing. Let them let you go. Don't quit.

Toxic bosses or setting a person up to fail should be illegal

Sometimes being unjustly fired from a job turns out to be a blessing in disguise because it opens the door to a better opportunity to a more rewarding job.

This is exactly why ppl are switching jobs and starting their own businesses. None of these reasons that you gave for being let go has anything to do with your work quality. The way jobs treat people is like being in a codependent abusive relationship.

A bad sign I've seen is when everyone you work with isn't friendly, including the boss. Your coworkers form a clique and shut you out.
Oftentimes they'll give you strange looks when you walk by. And if you say hello or good morning they just look at you like you're from friggin Mars.

Best career move I ever did...saving enough money so I wasn't afraid of losing or leaving my job. It allowed me to take more risks and enjoy what I do instead of taking the first thing offered to me.

I got fired from my accounting job and I knew it was coming. I dreaded going to work, knowing that no matter what I did, I was going to screw up. It was a good firm, I just was not a good accountant. I was there for 5 months and they gave me 2 mid term evaluations that were not great. Now I'm a math teacher and I am where I belong and im happier.

The way your co workers behave is a massive indicator, they’ll lose respect and distance themselves. This means they know you have fallen out of favour with the boss.

Culture fit for most corporations = we're looking for a carbon copy of us and individuality is frowned upon but we still want diversity points on LinkedIn so we'll hire a "diverse" person once in a blue moon and post about it. We're so woke.

Another bad sign is when you see the job you currently have being advertised in the want ads.

If they're going to fire you, they will do it. There is no standard when it comes to firing people in the U.S. I have never been fired for work performance. I have only ever been fired for personal reasons. Typically when I speak the truth or stand up for others, that's more than enough to get fired. Workers need more protections because these companies know they have all the power and flex it any chance they get.

Another good tip is that your supervisor will tell you to submit all your information and job manuals into the shared folders for everyone to access.

Another thing. Kind of falls under setting up to fail. But getting picked on for things that are less than everyone else in the workplace gets away with.

A job is not who you are. Develop yourself to the best version of yourself.

I love how the company who lets you go think they are the only employer on the planets.
I never take it personal because a lot of the time its a personality clash were the boss doesn't like you.

I had a job where my perfect performance review dropped to rock bottom. I asked my supervisor what was going on, she *_knew_* that the scores were bogus and I asked her to just be straight with me on whether or not I was going to be fired or not. She knew I didn't deserve to be fired, but they needed to show that I was fired for cause. I said enough with the games and took my report to the department head. Wrote "LIES" on the paperwork, made a copy of it and then told the department head "If you want to fire me, just do it." So he did.
I just walked out, leaving almost nothing at my desk. When the supervisor took my side in the unemployment hearing I was frankly shocked.

After the hearing though, she said she had already got another job and that if they could do what they did to me, they would do it to anyone, so she started looking for another job the day of my review. I was touched that someone would have my back like that.

In the years since that, I have been very attuned to dysfunctional work environments, and I never stay there for long. I am so glad that I am retired now and no longer have to deal with the utterly toxic work environment that exists in America today.

To everyone who is working, Look for a job that makes you happy, and work with coworkers that you enjoy being around. Life is too short to be playing stupid employment games.
