I just had a narcisstist, say "hi" to me & I was dead silence ! Then the narcisstist asked me, "didn't you hear me say hi to you ?" & i remained silent. The narcisstist then says, "that was rude" & then I just walked away from the narcisstist while continuing my silence. Also, not once did I even look at the narcisstist because they need attention. It felt, truly amazing !

I learned a long time ago that giving them ZERO emotion is a killer. As long as I cursed, screamed, and yelled about all the lies and manipulation the narc was giving me, he ate it up. The one time I showed him NO EMOTION, he squirmed away like a defeated little boy.

This is so true!! I was married to a Narcissist for 58 years, but by the time I realizes what I was dealing with, it was too late to get out of the marriage, so I resorted to withdraw by going as silent, uncommunicative and unemotional as I could while living under the same roof!! And not only did it work, but it gave me a great deal of satisfaction!! I have been a widow now for 1 1/2 years and am SO enjoying my freedom!!

Do not think for a minute that you will change them with this. You never get the upper hand with a narcissist. Going silent is more for you than them. Getting your "voice" back by going silent is you on your way to wholeness without them. Once they no longer get their need met from your reaction, they will move on to their next need meeter. The silent treatment from the narcissist is due to them having passive aggressive behaviors, where a normal person / victim of narcissistic abuse uses the silent treatment as a form of defense, not aggression
