Controlling and dealing with hunger is one of the trickiest things for people wanting to lose weight. We know weight loss comes down to exercise and, perhaps more importantly, diet. But trying to eat less can only get us so far before our raging appetite kicks in. So what are some good ways to deal with hunger and staying full? Let's find out!

*Summary:*

1. Drink hella water 15-30 mins before eating.
2. Don't drink your calories, esp sugary drinks. If you do, have a thick creamy protein shake.
3. Get more protein, as you feel fuller.
4. Remove food cues. E.g pics of food, videos of food, on social media/youtube etc
5. Eat what you SHOULD before what you DESIRE. Aka good nutritious healthy foods first. Why? 300 cals of pizza won't make you as full as 300 cals of leafy green veggies & fruits.

Last one - be consistent & remember it takes work. There's no quick fix.

My tip: Eat an entire packet of no sugar added jello, it's a lot and has 20-40 calories depending on the brand (0g carbs, 4g of protein)

Planning has been the most useful tactic for me. Spent a few weeks getting a base by logging what I ate so I knew were I stood. Using a digital food scale helped take out most of the guess work on how many calories I was pulling in with home cooked meals. Then planning out how much and what I was going to eat (I used fitbit's food logger as a planning tool...spreadsheets work too).

The other thing I tell myself when I do get hungry, is that I still have plenty of fat stores available and that it is OK to hold off on eating for a couple of hours. The world is not going to end if I don't respond to hunger immediately. And yes, lots of water.

Not receiving enough mental stimulation throughout the day or being stressed can also lead to binge eating. Make sure you have a variety of activities throughout the day to keep you occupied. If stress is a daily factor consider seeking therapy so you can learn how to manage it.

I don't have that much trouble resisting physical hunger. It's the emotional hunger that I have a hard time resisting.

Eating healthy stuff can also help a lot with distinguishing hunger from appetite. I always keep fruit and vegetables around so when I am actually hungry I have something healthy to snack on but when I'm not I will feel like "ugh I really want to eat something" but when I walk to the fridge I realize I don't want a carrot now at all or whatever is in there so I know it's just appetite and I'm not really hungry. Recognizing this can help a lot with eating less.

my genetics makes me feel always full, sometimes i have to drag myself into the kitchen just so i dont randomly starve to death without even feeling it

How to manage hunger? Stop drinking soda drinks and eating junk food and refined carbs. Get in adequate daily protein and the hunger levels will normalize. The higher the blood sugar and insulin, the greater the hunger afterwards. The hunger also stays high if you don't get in your daily NUTRITION (meaning protein, vitamins and minerals). Just don't fill yourself with empty calories and give your body what it wants and needs.

A shrink once toll me "do you really had ever felt hunger?" He mean absolute lack of food starving mode. I have to admit that not, luckily not ever in my life. Thats was the moment I realized it was all in my mind and mostly I overeat for anxiety than real hunger. I thank him every time I eat now.

Don't let yourself become really hungry, at least for me it tends to lead to eating tons of food real fast before I even realize I ate way too much. Maybe you need to eat more often, but smaller amounts.
