I've been stuck in limerence with twice in the past five years. My current LO has been bouncing around my head for over a year and a half. Both these men are highly-successful actors. A big part of my obsession with them has been jealousy. They are men my age who came from healthier home lives and had support from their parents. They also had the guts to pursue a career that I was scared away from. They spend their adulthood living their dreams, while I floundered in a nightmare. They are also very gentlemanly and want to bring back codes of honor that men should follow when dating women. They are all the things that no one ever gave me growing up and that I never learned how to give myself. Intellectually I know that these men probably have their own neuroses and flaws, but I still keep feeling like they are perfect, and that being with them meant that I could be healed by them. Shows just how much work I have to do on myself.

I’m not sure this video tells you how to stop obsessing over someone, but, by my experience, she is spot on about the reasons for the obsession. What if you can’t get close enough to see the person’s flaws? I wish I could help by giving some advice myself, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

I'm a "beautiful, successful" woman but is currently obsessed with a rough, unorganized avoidant 😂 He was into me at first and then left.
