So the Galloway Run/Walk/Run Method... how fast do you need to walk vs. run in your intervals? A lot of people ask this question and luckily Jeff is here to give us insight on this popular question!

🥳Join us on the Charge Running app on July 12th to celebrate Jeff Galloway's 75th birthday!

The Run/Walk/Run method is based on the discovery that a continuous use of muscle will result in a quicker fatigue, in addition to the longer the run segment, the more fatigue. This type of interval training helps to converse resources and assist with quicker recovery so one is able to reduce their core body temperature, enjoy the endorphins of running, and help you run until you're 100!

Thanks for this. I've wondered this for a long time, and the idea that it's up to me is empowering. I've used your method to run injury free for many years, and my running & walking paces are based on how I feel that day. My goal is to keep going.

We all walk and run at different paces, and stopping to walk makes you feel less tired.. Wow, that is some Einstein level insight.

Just back into the walk/run exercise as this is for myself, a way to keep active. At 68, my madness has allowed me to not worry about a pace per say, just keep moving. After a while I've learned to just be happy I am out exercising. Sure, pounding out a good pace every once and a while is great but, expecting to do it continuously might set one self up for failure if that individual is a goal setter. It is merely time for thought reflection, etc.. Never wear a headset for music as I always would say, if one has the ability to think, be creative in thought then they don't need to fill that empty space between the ears because there is something already there. Biking is the same, just out canvassing the countryside. Not tearing it up but enjoying the ride. Yes, I do want to know at times, how long it takes, only so that if I am on a time table, I can get an idea how long I may have to accomplish whatever I am involved in. Being retired one might think we have all sorts of time to do things, yes and no. We're as busy as we want ourselves to be. What's nice is something that I've practiced forever is this, when I am feeling out of sorts, injured, etc., I merely shut down for a day and if injured, even though maybe only a slight inclination of something starting, I back it off for however long it takes to heal properly. Never do I plow through an injury or a setback. Only the one body, like to think we have a partnership, mind/body.

Run/Walk trails with hills and you wont have to worry about it. Just see what your average HR was after 20 miles.
