ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The dual rope pushdown has really done the rounds on social media and I see more and more people performing it in the gym these days.⁣

Perfectly fine choice, but just keep in mind that there's nothing magical about using two ropes and you can also just perform the same movement one arm at a time if it's easier to setup or you don't want to claim your gym's only two ropes.⁣

Either use a single rope to perform it, or just grab right onto the cable itself. Only downside is that you'll have to do twice as many sets, so again, just pick the one you most prefer.⁣

Or, you can also do a similar movement with a cross body pushdown where you're standing in between a dual cable stand and grabbing onto each cable using the opposite hand.⁣

I honestly don't think the precise pushdown variation you choose is going to make a world of difference in the long run as long as you aren't butchering the movement.⁣

So while the above variations are technically ideal since you can really press with the elbows in a more flared position to target the long head, a standard rope pushdown will still be highly effective nonetheless.

And while a straight bar pushdown isn't going to be the very best choice because of the fixed vertical arm path, it's not like it isn't still going to build your triceps.⁣

Don't confuse "optimal" and "effective".⁣ Just because a given movement isn't perfectly ideal doesn't mean it won't still produce good results.⁣

If your goal is to fully maximize hypertrophy then of course go with the best possible choice you have available - but if you don't have access to a certain exercise or you just prefer something else and aren't necessarily trying to squeeze out every ounce of possible growth, that's fine too.⁣

I regularly perform exercises that I know are not 100% optimal purely because I find them more enjoyable or convenient.

I want to make my workouts shorter, without reducing the volume. Is it OK to program my workouts like this example?
Bicep curls
No rest
Tricep push ups
No rest
Lateral raises
No rest
Some forearm exercise
And then repeat this 3 times instead of doing 3 sets of each exercise with rest between every set.
