📝 SUMMARY:

Acid reflux, also known as Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease or GERD, is a common gastrointestinal disorder that affects approximately 20% of adults in Western cultures. GERD can cause a range of symptoms, from heartburn and regurgitation to epigastric pain, dyspepsia, nausea, bloating, and belching. In addition to causing discomfort, GERD has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, including acute myocardial infarction. Therefore, it's crucial to manage GERD symptoms.

Diet is a crucial aspect of managing GERD symptoms, and there are ways to reduce the symptoms of acid reflux disease. One way is by consuming anti-acid reflux foods. Here are five such foods:

Oatmeal: Oatmeal is a heart-healthy food and a great source of fiber. It can help soothe and coat the digestive tract. Since oats absorb stomach acid, it's a good choice for reducing GERD symptoms. Other whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, barley, millet, and wheat are also good alternatives for people with reflux disease.

Ginger: Ginger contains antioxidants and chemicals that may have medicinal properties. Some compounds contained in ginger are said to reduce gastric contractions and relieve gastrointestinal irritation. This means that ginger can help reduce the likelihood of acid reflux from your stomach into your esophagus. Ginger can also help with inflammation. Esophageal inflammation is a key characteristic of reflux disease, and since ginger has potent anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used to reverse the effects of swelling.

Bananas: Bananas are high in potassium, which is necessary for normal blood pressure and heart function, and they also help in the reduction of the production of stomach acid. They are also low in acid, making them a safe choice for people with reflux.

Green vegetables: Green vegetables like broccoli, kale, spinach, collard greens, asparagus, peas, cucumbers, and brussels sprouts are rich in vitamins and minerals and aid digestion and regular bowel movement. They have been shown to help prevent and treat acid reflux.

Lean proteins: Lean proteins like chicken, turkey, fish, and seafood are low in fat and are good options for people with reflux disease. Red meats, on the other hand, are high in fat and can worsen GERD symptoms.

In conclusion, consuming anti-acid reflux foods can help reduce the symptoms of GERD. A diet rich in whole grains, lean proteins, green vegetables, bananas, and ginger can help soothe the digestive system and ease the discomfort caused by GERD.

I've used warm water 💧 on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and cucumbers 🥒 afterwards as food medicine for 3 years now, and it has been the perfect healing miracle.

This proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that everyone’s different.
Bananas are one of the worst things I can eat with regards to heartburn.
Pity, because I love them!

Thanks for the video. My trigger foods are orange juice, onions and coffee. I also stay away from sugar as much as possible. I like crystalized ginger. I find it at the local health food store. I eat one to two pieces when I have a GERD attack.

It is vitally important to eliminate refined sweeteners, white and brown sugar and cane sugar from diet and refined vegetable oils and lard, all fried foods including potato chips, banana chips, Doritos, commercially prepared and microwave popcorn. The more simple and straight from nature the food the greater our health will be. A really good book is The Ministry of Healing. Blessings to all for a happy and healthy 2024.

Ginger sounded like the perfect food for those with acid reflux problems. But have also read that studies have shown that ginger relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which could significantly contribute to acid reflux. Articles suggest more studies are needed.
But summary that I have read said: Ginger has many properties that may prove helpful for several health conditions. Studies indicate that this spice may help manage nausea and improve digestion. However, there is little evidence ginger improves acid reflux or its symptoms.

I was on six Quickeez a day then visited the naturopath. Two days later no heartburn. He put me on a golden pea protein shake with chia seeds, golden flaxseed meal and slippery elm powder. These are slimy and help line your gut. I believe the issue is your stomach acid attacks your stomach lining as you have an issue with poor or missing lining of your stomach wall. You need fruit and vegetable fibre he told me. I stay away from fruit juice or any sugary drink and just drink water. I also lost 15kg in three months.

This problem used to trigger my Atrial Fibrilation of the heart.. Which was caused by certain foods and drinks., Also, too much food, eating too late at night, or a combination of all four. Simple old Rennies which i always carried, would prevent it kicking off, if I reacted soon enough. BUT--once the AFIB started, it always ended with Ambulances to A & E, and on two occasions, Heart ABLATION Op. which didn't succeed, Until a Pacemaker was fitted. WHAT REALLY CAUSED AFIB, was the Acid interferrence of the VAGAL NERVE, that passes through your stomach, and on to your heart, causing interferrence with the Heart beat rhythm.

It’s important to find out the core of what’s causing the heartburn and acid reflux. For me it’s eating dinner too soon before retiring to bed. Once I understood the reason for it, I amended my eating schedule. No problem since.

Found things a lot better when I started drinking a Kaifer drink which has live cultures first thing in a morning. Getting old could mean your reflux could be caused by not having enough acid.
