Does Faith Precede Regeneration?

It's an argument as old as Christianity. But, the Bible provides ample evidence to draw a firm conclusion.

I was nothing before Jesus and not too much after. If there is any good in me, it is because of him. And he can have it all. I just want to go home and stay with him where I'm safe.

John 3: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil
Their deeds were evil said Christ. He was speaking of the pharisees and their cooperative salvation with God. Their deeds, what they did to be saved, were evil. It is the same way today. God did His part, now you do yours. Your part is evil in God's sight. These deeds are like filthy rags. He only looks to the work of His dear Son. If we were in Him by representation when He did His works, then we are seen just as He is. This salvation is not natural to man. We want to add our part. That is the thinking of the natural man. We naturally rebel against His salvation. We must be given spiritual life to believe in His way of salvation. Good message Jim.

So True Brother. It has to be that regeneration comes before faith. I, however, would have liked what you said even more if you had dealt with these text which seem to be in opposition to what you said:
[Mar 16:16 NKJV] 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

[Luk 8:12 NKJV] 12 "Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should BELIEVE AND BE SAVED.

[Jhn 3:15-16 NKJV] 15 "that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM should not perish but HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. 16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.

[Jhn 6:40 NKJV] 40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and BELIEVES IN HIM MAY HAVE EVERLASING LIFE; and I will raise him up at the last day."

[Act 16:31 NKJV] 31 So they said, "BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and YOU WILL BE SAVED you and your household."

[Rom 10:9-10, 13 NKJV] 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART that God has raised Him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED 10 For with the heart one BELIEVES UNTO RIGHTOUSNESS and with the mouth confession is made UNTO SALVATION. ... 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

Blessings Bro.

Jesus said without me you, you can’t do nothing!

The missing component in most discussions involving salvation is the Holy Spirit's use of the conscience. The conscience becomes dead and must be "purged."

The seed is the logos Word but the water awakened in the seed that cracks it open with life is the Rhema Word. (Unless I switched them).

Thank you, Pastor Jim!
One thing I have never heard preached is a comparison of fallen satan vs fallen man. To challenge Arminians to think Biblically. Why does fallen man have free will if fallen Satan does not (ie cannot and will not ever go to heaven.) ?
