let us never fool ourselves into thinking that our faith comes from us it only comes from you and always remind us that there is no regeneration without you we don't convert anyone only you can because it is a literal miracle that you and you alone perform blessed be the name of the Lord!

Pastor, I have so much respect for you, hence I have learnt much from you. I thank God for you. You have shown me how to study the bible, and appreciate it at a whole new level. Praying for you always.

"[We] are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith"

Seems like Piper has it backwards... to bad Paul didn't get the memo when he wrote 'those' letters...

Romans 5:1, 2
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

We have access to grace by faith. Not the other way around.

This is all true.A baby doesn't cry to be born, it cries after it's born and a natural man doesn't cry out to God to be born again, he cries out to God after God made him born again.

People get baptized on account of their faith. Col 2:12, if we read it literally, says that we are raised at the time of our baptism (regenerated) through our faith in God's work in raising Christ from the dead. So regeneration happens in water baptism according to a literal reading of this and Rom 6 as well. Therefore faith precedes regeneration because it also precedes baptism which is the cause of regeneration. Titus 3:5 also tells us baptism causes regeneration if we accept that "washing" is a synonym for baptism. This is not unreasonable given the connection of baptism with washing in the NT and the primitive Church's use of the word washing as a synonym for baptism.

I could really use prayer right now. God knows. Would you please pray for me?

"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead." Col 2:12 declares that faith is the instrument through which one is raised.

"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." John 20:31, the purpose verse of the entire Gospel of John, including John 6:44. "might have life" is synonymous with regeneration. The believing one is regenerated.

"It pleased God...to save them that believe." How are those saved which believe? "...by the washing of regeneration." 1 Cor 1:21, Tit 3:5.

And because we are born "before" we believe God gets "ALL" the Glory we won't be standing before Him patting ourselves on the back

Colossians 2, 12: you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God
Piper: "That question is simply not addressed here" (proceeds with texts that do not address the issue to prove regeneration precedes faith)

I have a question for pastor John. If God causes regeneration before faith takes place why has God not regenerated those who have been eternally condemned? So that they may have faith? And be saved?

So, regeneration proceeds faith. Thank you.

"Does Faith Cause Regeneration?"

Hello kind Sir...I must confess that in my 81 yrs (90 now) of my being Born Again...

...I never "cottoned" to "euphemistic" words; as many do in the Christian World. Yet I have heard the word "Regeneration" a zillion times. but I let it go in one ear; and out the other ear! Same for words like: "Oneness, Modalism and Sabellianism"; and many others that I can't remember just now.

So I keep it simple; as I taught Jesus and Christianity all my life. Thus, ever since I was "Born Again" at age 9; my major time was spent trying to please Jesus. And forget all the rest of "pretty" words, Etc.

But this time, I looked up the word "Regeneration" on the Web. And NOT one answer talked about Christian things. Sad, but true. So I will use that; to say that faith IN Jesus; and NO other: causes ANY one to become a Born Again by Jesus, forever. AND "OSAS" IS true. Regardless of 80% of the Christian World; that espouses adamantly; that any one can lose their Salvation. So I say adamantly...HOGWASH! For...

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. John 10:30 I and my Father are one. AMEN!

I rest me case...

...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

If you want to really know John Pipers Reformed Calvinist Theology I can help you with the term "Fatalism"

Lets read the Founder of Reformed Calvinism writings and Reformed law!

"God arranges all things by his sovereign counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death and are to glorify him by their destruction.( John Calvin Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 23, Paragraph 6)

“Creatures are so governed by the secret counsel of God, that nothing happens but what he has knowingly and willingly decreed.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 1, Chapter 16, Paragraph 3)

“…we say that God once established by his eternal and unchangeable plan those whom he long before determined once for all to receive into salvation, and those whom, on the other hand, he would devote to destruction…he has barred the door of life to those whom he has given over to damnation.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 7)

These 3 statements from the Founder of Reformed Calvinism are absolutely clear. Calvinsm is "Fatalism"
Only a Cult mentality would say it is not!
The Calvinist Reformed answer to these facts is usually.
1. "You don't understand Calvinism!"
2. "It is a mistery no one can understand!"
3. Or strawman, freewiller. or a host of other name calling...

Calvinism is just one of the Doctrine of Demons Paul warned us about that would be coming into the World. But it would have to wait for the heretic Augustine to lay the foundation and then Calvin finished it!
It's Satan's most used tool to devour his victims.
The name has been softened to now be called "REFORMED THEOLOGY"
Its really "DEFORMED THEOLOGY"

Truth In Love

1 Timothy 2 : 3-6 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Explain to me Col2. 12 which says that you are raised through faith. Rebirth has to follow faith.

May the Lord return! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! New channel here, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!

John says that there are no verses that put regeneration after faith. How about John 5:24...
1.“he who hears My word
2.“and believes in Him who sent Me
3.“has everlasting life,
4.“and shall not come into judgment,
5.“but has passed from death into life.”

1 John 5:1

“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”

Scripture is clear faith is given and we are drawn to Christ and our salvation is all of sovereign GOD'S grace that is free of our merit.

But how all in the gospels Jesus tells people your faith has saved you without first being regenerated?

(John 7:39)
39But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Somehow faith that is given comes before regeneration or we have a contradiction ..

Someone please help understand if I'm wrong cause I don't want to be???
