great advice, a lot of beginners usually crash diet when the correct thing is to take things slow. patience will take you very far

I did the same. 8 weeks on 1000 cal and it was brutal. Now 4 weeks on a 500 cal deficit and it is so much better. Exactly what you said.

Agreed. I used to do that way too much and the results: all the weight lost came back double in 2 years cause I had developed eating disorders and poor metabolism. In July of this year I've decided to do better, I calculate the minimum and maximum weekly calorie intake for myself and eat to my heart's content while enjoying myself. Since then I've lost 12.7 kg out of the 25 I need to lose to be in good health (even though I'm often doing cheat meals) and my body is returning the favour - it's shaping up beautifully. I weigh myself on the same day at the same time every week and I lose 0.4 to 2kg a week without starving myself (as I love to move around and exercise). By investing in a connected scale, I can also see if it's fat I'm losing and not muscle. And the psychological gain is also pleasing, I feel proud and happy instead of frustrated and empty.

Some studies, like the one published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), have suggested that being overweight, but not obese, might be associated with a lower risk of death compared to people with a "healthy" BMI.
A study of 500, 000 US adults found that people with a BMI between 25 and 29.9 (considered "overweight") had a 5-7% lower risk of death than those with a BMI in the "healthy" range.

You've explained the whole cycle of trying to be rapid with weight loss, seeing the results you want, then suffering, then actually closing the loop with going to the healthy option so perfectly..changed the game for mez

Been on a cut since Jan 1st and I’ve only just reached a deficit of 1200 cals of my offseason diet. Small deficits while training hard and keeping up with cardio has allowed me to drop 12kg with only a 0.3kg muscle drop. Remember, it’s not about how much you take away but how much effort you put in!! 🤙🏻

If this fitness industry as a whole was more like this, it would be so much better off. I’m a working cscs and greatly appreciate this breath of fresh air

I love this because this has been my most recent and new approach to weight loss, finding a sustainable approach that will keep the weight off forever because rapid weight loss & extreme diets only work for a short-term and are unsustainable. The easiest way to control caloric intake is through what you eat

Lost 170lbs in 8 months doing that rapid weight loss thing you mentioned. I was eating .7 grams of protein per lb of my goal weight. And 1 gram of carbs per lb of goal weight. .3 grams of fats per lb of my goal weight. Small margin of error.
Kept it off for 4 years now and in those 7 months gained give or take 10 lbs of muscle. It was intense, incredibly difficult, and I was constantly tempted but I'm alive and I haven't gained the weight back.

personally I don't mind aggressive weight loss in short periods of like 4-6 weeks, knowing there will be a dip in mood and performance but I need a plan for after too or I'll just binge. having my favourite foods in my normal diet made at home with some healthy modifications makes the whole thing pretty easy to maintain for me better than 6 months of constant calorie restrictions

I do 5 days a 1000 calorie deficit and then 2 days maintenance or just above. It’s the same decifit but your body refeeds, you feel good all week and you get better muscle retention. ✌🏼💪🏼

If he pushed for the third week, his body will eventually adapted to it and start taking more calories from stored fat. I've been doing it for 2 months since I have a lot of weight to lose. I've lost 10 kg so far and I'm not suffering anymore.

So basically body recomposition in short
Which means losing fat while gaining muscle by having a calorie deficit of 200 to 300 cal
Which is 10 - 20% of your calorie intake
This whole thing was explained in details by jeff nippard.
