Why Darth Vader Couldn’t Sense Leia was his Daughter

This video provides a brief explanation for why Darth Vader could not sense Leia’s potential to use the force or that she was his daughter despite directly interacting with her on numerous occasions.

Vader hadn't even sense that she was Force sensitive in a first place, because imo the Force hadn't awakened in her, yet. Ep.7 is all about the Force awakening in somebody and gives us details about it but we are not given that in the previous movies.

Yhh I think just because some characters have a strong connection to the Force it doesn't mean all information will be spoon-fed to them, eventually they have to learn somethings themselves to connect the dots, like Vader did with Luke between 4 and 5.

When Tarkin ordered her termination Vader said she may still be of some use..I think deep deep down he did know..but the awareness was shrouded even from his conscious mind.. and on Bespin he ordered the Princess to remain on Cloud City..she was going to remain a prisoner..then he changed and ordered her taken to his ship.. he didn't have her executed..it seemed odd at the time.

In legends one of Luke’s force ability’s is that he can sense force sensitives even tho they couldn’t use the force why vader wasn’t Capableof this power in legends the cannon even tho he got brunt on mustafar

To me (and this may sound a bit silly), Vader not knowing Leia was his daughter was more because he could not sense the “Skywalker” in her. Maybe she was too much Organa, since she dressed like an Alderaanian and most certainly picked up habits from Bail. That’s just me, though. I know it’s not a mystical reason, but I always felt like, since Luke grew up where Anakinh grew up, and Luke acted much more like a Skywalker (don’t forget, his name was openly “Luke Skywalker.” So if I were Anakin, I’d notice something familiar quite suddenly) than Leia did.
