I think that Darth Vader didn't want to be called Anakin, because it brought back memories of Padmé and Obi Wan.

He dies.
Then breathing starts as if he was brought back to life.

It's kinda messed up the prequels have more lore than the original trilogy but everyone discredited the prequels and called them terrible.

Anakin is genuinely asking Palpatine...a person he THOUGHT had his best interests at heart ..to HELP him save Padme (He had had the premonition that Padme would die in childbirth), he was DESPERATE as Padme could give birth any day now). The only caring, kind person he had ever known was his Mother, and Padme's goodness, love and kindess, reminded him of his Mother, he was at his wit's end. No one knew they were married, his strong responsibilities in the Jedi Oder were taxing, and no one knew the baby was Anakin's. He was stretched to the limit, he was asking the only person he knew who might have power to save her. His placement of trust in Palpaine was all he could grasp...he had tried Yoda, Windu and Obi Wan and found them wanting with no care or guidance to understand him or his situation, the Jedi never tried to be kind and understanding...they always viewed him suspiciously...even Yoda "a prophecy mis-read could be"; Obi Wan's "Is he not the chosen one?', and Windu "You stay here Anakin, I'll confront Palpatine". There was no one else to turn to, even Windu couldn't consult with him as a thinking - wise Jedi and be kind enough to get to know him and his plight.

Hard Disagree.. He knew who he was.. He contributed the idea of Anakin to weakness.. He wanted to be Vader.. Vader was all powerful to him.. But every time someone called him Anakin it triggered him.. Anakin was always there.. Because he was always Anakin
