This is the best replacement for a machine movement at home for the shoulders imo

You must be recruiting MOTOR UNITS because you're looking like an absolute TANK.

I've always done un-supported seated OHP to be "tough" and hated how unstable they felt, thanks for opening my mind up I'm gonna try the supported high incline version out in the near future!

Seated shoulder presses are awesome. Especially as a supplement to your regular standing OHPs.

Behind the neck presses on the smith machine as well is a great shout in my experience.

My favourite though is one you mentioned: seated OHP (without back support). It’s great for those of us who tend to have a lean back on our heavy standing OHPs. It’s quite humbling as well!

Planetary natty delts is possible, we just gotta be open to trying different things. Great video, Alex. Concise and to the point. Keep it up G.

I have been watching your videos for years and my physique has skyrocketed. Keep up the high quality videos. Im looking to increase my OHP using your advice. Using your advice I blew up my bench press so I am very optimistic.

I've been saying this since 2017 and people kept commenting about how standing is better, but the seated will always have a better stability profile. Most people don't even have the adequate amount of shoulder flexion to do a proper OHP without arching their back excessively, but it still has its place especially in strongman etc. Solid vid my man

When I started out working from home, I had to start seated OHP 2x week since I had low ceilings. Best my shoulders have ever looked and heaviest I’ve ever been able to go on OHP.

Hey alex. I just want to thank you for all the great things you did for the fitness community, after years of consuming fitness content I can name few of channels that I will never stop learning from like D. mikes RP, jhon medows( may god have mercy on his soul), vintage genetics, and your channel alex .

Alex 1 tip from my side. As u say, the seated version stretches the ant delt more, however, b careful at heavy loads at the lower position, the shoulder can suffer. My advice, check ur ideal ROM, x me touching the chest with the bar at heavy loads is risky.

I’ve spent months specializing in the standing OHP, but when it comes down to it the seated is definitely superior for recovery 👌

Been doing this for the past few weeks. My front delts are the smallest part of my shoulders. My rear delts overpower them

Great sales pitch for this lift, cool to see an opinion opposite of mine on this one

I really like it that you stayed open minded over the years and that you try broish kind of lifts aswell. I really like the fact that you mentioned the Smith Machine and machines in the general in your last q&a and your opinion about it. Everything has its place in various situations and that’s the beauty about fitness….the variety my man! 1000 ways of bettering yourself!

My shoulders have always been my weak point - both in terms of strength and due to injuries when working out. I started implementing seated press (in smith machine), mainly as my secondary movement (3x8-12) after OHP, and my numbers have improved every.single.workout (about two months in)! + My shoulders feel healthier than ever! :D

These indirectly helped with my bench press and the motivational video of you benching 4 plates of course, I'll never forget.

I figured out how awesome this exercise is recently due to the lower ceiling in my new home gym. I definitely agree with everything you said here.

May have to switch to this. I cannot seem to increase my press beyond 80kg which is terrible given my bench is almost twice as high. Will give this a go, thanks Alex
