This used to happen to me when I first started lifting. Once I learned to retract your shoulders it helped a ton

Last week I realized I was doing Bench press wrong and wasn't tucking my shoulders back and using my legs. I did it for the first time yesterday and now my chest is more sore than ever before.

My problem with this is the tendon that connects my chest to my shoulder joint is always inflamed because of a max I tried years ago. NEW LIFTERS DO NOT DO MAX BENCH PRESS, ONE BAD ONE AND IT WILL RUIN YOUR SHOULDERS FOREVER

I had to switch to press machines to correct my scapular form on bench press because I almost destroyed my shoulders with poor form. Really helped me feel proper retraction, now my shoulder pain is dissipating and my bench weight is finally improving

You can go for a much deeper stretch. More range of motion than that
