LOW SELF ESTEEM:
We all have times when we lack confidence and do not feel good about ourselves.

But when low self-esteem becomes a long-term problem, it can have a harmful effect on our mental health and our day-to-day lives.

WHAT IS SELF ESTEEM:
Self-esteem is the opinion we have of ourselves.

When we have healthy self-esteem, we tend to feel positive about ourselves and about life in general. It makes us better able to deal with life's ups and downs.

When our self-esteem is low, we tend to see ourselves and our life in a more negative and critical light. We also feel less able to take on the challenges that life throws at us.

WHERE TO FIND HELP FOR LOW SELF ESTEEM:
Psychological therapies like counselling or cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help.

If you prefer, you can talk to a GP first and they can refer you. You could also find a private therapist. Make sure they're registered with a professional body.

SMOKING AND ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION:

HOW DOES LOW SELF ESTEEM EFFECT US:
If you have low self-esteem or confidence, you may hide yourself away from social situations, stop trying new things, and avoid things you find challenging.

In the short term, avoiding challenging and difficult situations might make you feel safe.

In the longer term, this can backfire because it reinforces your underlying doubts and fears. It teaches you the unhelpful rule that the only way to cope is by avoiding things.

Living with low self-esteem can harm your mental health and lead to problems such as depression and anxiety.

You may also develop unhelpful habits, such as smoking and drinking too much, as a way of coping.

I struggle with body dismorphia, always hating how i look/never being satisfied with anything when it comes to my hair or clothes is a big reason why I battle with low self esteem. I went from being 250lbs to now being in best shape of my life and I still battle these issues.

Even though my life has gotten much better as compared to how it was 3 years back, I've noticed my sense of self esteem is very low. Girls tend to call me pretty, cute and I was even called beautiful twice yesterday in the college welcome party. But I can't seem to believe them. I stare at them in confusion and disbelief, snd sometimes ask them if they're being sarcastic all because I don't see anything in me.

I love how at the end you added bloopers to help audience understand that you are not a "perfect human being" and there is no such thing even though your video was clean cut, educational and important for one's mental health that may portray you as being perfect!! <3 Great video !!!

I was bullied in school and got rejected by my love in college....thats why now after years i got a very low self esteem.... I just dont trust myself now...and feel i am below the ladder and am not good enough for anybody...

I didn’t realize that I had self low self esteem until this.I did even justified everything that’s wrong which I’ve experienced and until now I can’t even say no at work.I rarely compliment myself and even questioned if I deserved it. I care a lot about what other people said about me.
But thanks for this video, it helps me a lot.

Great video! Thank you, man! Thought maybe the description of what self esteem is could go a little more in depth in the beginning but the whole video finished off extremely well.

1) identify negative beliefs and challenge them
Diary(as much info as you can)
Write a list of at least 5 positive things about yourself
2) build positive relationships and repair or leave toxic relationships
3) try becoming assertive
4) learn to say no
5) take new challenges
6) look after yourself
Exercise
Spend time outside
Avoid alcohol, drugs and smoking
Sleep (8-9 hours)
Eat healthy
7) celebrate your success
Take compliments
