Today we’re going to talk about fasting and belly fat. If you have the correct pattern of intermittent fasting, you can tap into your visceral (belly) fat.

A recent study done on mice indicated that intermittent fasting could slow down weight loss and create a resistance to losing weight.

This conflicts with other studies that show that intermittent fasting can help with weight loss. One study indicates that a person can lose their visceral fat by 4-7% by doing one meal a day.

When we have conflicting information, it’s time to dig deeper. With the first study, they did every other day fasting. This is where you would fast for one day, go back to your regular eating plan the next day, then fast again the day after that, and so on. They were also not doing the keto diet when they ate their meals.

This is a lot different than what I talk about, where you fast for a period of hours, then go on keto, and then fast for a period of hours, and so on. The key is staying on keto.

Two types of fasting that will slow your weight loss:
1. Every other day fasting
2. The 5:2 fasting pattern (5 days you eat what you want and for 2 days you eat 500 calories)

If you go on and off keto, it can cause the body to adapt and protect its fuel source, which is stored as body fat. If you want to correct your metabolism and target belly fat, the best way to do it is with a combination of keto and intermittent fasting.

Some people can lose the weight they need to lose by fasting. Some people also have to exercise. Some people have to fast, exercise, and watch your diet. There are no silver bullets.

Been doing IF and HFLC for several years now. Never felt better in my life. I’m 63, and 7 years ago needed a pacemaker and bypass surgery. It has HELPED ME IMMENSELY. Big pharma and big Agra have no interest in our health.

The way I look without doing NOTHING is just frickin unbelievable!!! as I write this I'm laughing because seems like it doesn't make any sense but it does !!

Trying to eat for one instead of two. Trying to exercise for two instead of one. Retired, doing 2x25 sprints a day, then walking back to starting line. Takes 75 minutes a session. Done 3, 000, or 170 miles, goal 10, 000 by snowfall. Each day around 8, 200 steps total from door to door, and 3, 500 strides. Achieved 12th grade weight of 185, now onto 11th grade weight of 175 (guessing). It’s boring as hell, sucks. But I like it. Want to see my abs. Age 69.

I found this to work 3 years ago when I was decided to eat 1 meal a day for 14 days. It was my first time doing and I lost 2.5 inches of body fat around my belly (40" down to 37.5") and chest area so not only did I lose weight from 188 down to 166, I lost inches. I'm 5'8", and although I wasn't huge in size I felt fat and didn't feel well. It's like I couldn't move around and felt like a marshmallow. After dropping that weight and burned fat I felt and move around so much better. My doctor was shocked the later that year when I went for a physical because when they tested my blood all the numbers they looked at had went from being in the red to green. For example, I've always had issues with bad cholesterol always being too low, never in the normal level my whole life. After the intermittent fasting it raised up to a normal level so I no longer have a bad cholesterol issue. Same with my triglycerides, they were always high and they dropped to normal levels. Of course now I also eat better because I'm not 25 anymore but the dramatic change in numbers and health came through intermittent fasting. I took on exercising once covid hit as I was home more so I can get stronger and maintain my health.

And I have not gained my weight and fat back. I eat better and continue to exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

In 4 1/2 months I've lost 75 lbs and 10 1/2 inches off my belly. And I've worked my way to eating 1 meal period a day. So some days are 22 hours of no food intake. But I give myself a 4 hour period. And I am doing so well that I have only felt like my stomach was eating itself maybe twice during that period. In fact, some days when I notice the time. Oh! It's almost time to eat. I'm hungry, but I've gotten used to the feeling.
I feel so much better. I am reversing diabetic symptoms including getting the feeling back in my feet. I had a sore that was on my knee that wouldn't heal for months. It is looking really good now.
I have really learned that the medical profession and it's dietary recommendations has nothing to do with making us healthy. It's about lining their pockets and keeping us on doctor visits and medications

Your body is an adaptation machine so it doesn’t surprise me that your body becomes resistant to weight loss the longer the length of time that you’ve been losing weight, but I think that Dr. Berg is right that doing Keto during your feeding window is critical to sustained long term weight loss. I force my body to continuously adapt by doing extended fasting for at least 36 hours some days (typically I do at least 40), doing 18/6 some days, doing OMAD some days, and having a 14-16 hour fast at least one day a week.

Started intermittent fasting not long ago along with keto and lost 8 pounds. I will admit it’s hard to be consistent with it with stress and being an emotional eater, but it works. I hope to continue to shed all that undue pandemic weight gain.
