I'm glad the pendulum is finally swinging back to sanity with people like Sean and Jeff. The amount of protein influencers were trying to get you to eat was absurd and wasteful, a lot of people were going to go broke if they kept up eating and pooping out the amounts that bro-fluencers were telling you to eat.

I've been lifting and competing in wrestling the better part of my life, at 6'5 and 270lbs, according to these magazines and influencers I should be getting in about 500 grams of protein for ideal results which is absolutely ridiculous. I've just been eating normal home cooked food my whole life and drank milk, nothing else, no powders or gainers or chicken breasts every 2 hours and I am stronger than your average bulldozer. Wake up people. Thank you Sean.

This 0.7g/lb figure is true for naturals, keep in mind that guys on gear need much more and “max out” at around 1.25g/lb.

Even in 2012, guys would tell me 1-2g per day and I swear I would be getting at least 0.7-0.8 and I made great progress, glad times are changing

I also was told this all through my life. Until I read the studies and the papers released on this subject. I’ve dropped my protein from around the 250g mark to 160g. I feel 100% less full all the time. 100% less bloated. I’ve upped my carb intake as I’m currently in a muscle gain phase in my training. Since those effects I’ve been able to up my carb intake much easier and still not feel nauseous over the amount of food. Feel more energetic for gym sessions and can push my training further.
