The Hip Mobility Solution for Sumo Deadlifts & Wide Stance Squats (Building Strength & Flexibility)

This video demonstrates how to increase hip abduction range of motion by mobilizing the hip adductor muscles (adductor magnus, adductor longus, adductor brevis, gracilis, and pectineus). The combination of training these muscles in a deeply stretched position before utilizing weighted proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching will simultaneously increase strength and flexibility. Doing so may help you achieve better positions for wide stance squats and sumo deadlifts with a reduced risk of hip adductor muscle strain injury (groin pull). While I made this demonstration with lifters as my target audience, the same technique can be effectively utilized by other athletes who strive to increase hip mobility such as dancers and gymnasts.
