During my initial consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist he told me if I wasn't willing to purchase their "medical grade" skin care there was no point in getting any procedures. I had inquired about Clear & Brilliant and IPL. He was very full of himself and didn't give a good vibe so I never went back.

I just had my implants replaced with a lift. I researched for a long time and had a wonderful experience. The Dr has a great website and the pictures were beautiful. I drove almost 3 hrs and I went to 2 consultation with two doctors that were very professional and experience. I am very happy with the doctor that I chose and the results are great.

Thank you Dr. Dray! I have strong concerns about MDs who are board certified in internal medicine, etc - not dermatology - opening these private practices in aesthetics! Seems really dishonest...

"worst case scenario you can go blind" : that's... Definitely useful to know beforehand 😅 not sure I'm willing to take the risk for a few fine lines 😮 #realitycheck

I've never had a cosmetic procedure and have no plans to. With my luck, I'd end up on Botched. Lol! Valuable information for anyone thinking of getting something done. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a nice evening. 💚

Major red flag: doctor lies about the procedure, the outcome and risks, refuses to take responsibility, denies failure, goes on holiday, turns out harmed patient on purpose and collegaues help him get away with it.

I've been told I have "porcelain" skin for years even now as I'm getting older. I have only done what I thought was minimal procedures. microderm, broken capillary removal, IPL. Most recently I went to a highly recommended local place with 10 years history of happy customers. The woman is a nurse (saw her credentials) I explained I didn't want botox, fillers, etc. just wanted to continue maintenance. I should have known when she was pushing fillers, etc on my forehead crack, etc....but I explained I had no interest and that I wanted to address my broken capillaries and some sun spots. I told her I had good results with IPL, but she decided to go with a YAG laser. I ended up with blisters on my face, my eyes blew up like balloons and now I'm left with "divit" scars on my face. I'm heartbroken what's been done and I need to try to fix..are there any recommendations please? There on side/tip of right nostril, 3-4 divits on left cheek, and the deepest one on my chin. Please help Thank you!

Perfect timing! I was looking at doing some cosmetic procedures. Namely laser hair removal. It's nice to know what to look out for. Thanks Dr. 🌺

What is scary is in Florida, there are Hair Salons that have Botox parties and permanent makeup done there. 😮 Not sure what liabilities they are responsible for.

You are one of my favorite doctors ever. You are always very clear and informative. You also have a ton of common sense. Thanks for this video.

It's like you read my mind. I had really bad eczema flare-ups when I was a child, which left me with tons of small hypertrophic scars due to scratching repeatedly. I'm really self conscious about them bc they are all over my arm and very noticeable. I really hope I can find a competent practitioner who knows how to treat them with laser.

You were right when you were talking about the first impressions. The last to dermatologist I spoke to weren't all that friendly and didn't seem like they want to answer any of my questions even though I didn't even have that many.

I’ve had al least 5 laser treatments in face and neck, about every 2 years. Plastic surgeon and dermatologist now in my new city. I do NOT do chemical facial treatments, ALWAYS use sunscreen 50+. Never has problems and my skin is wonderful. But a little goes a long way- the lasers do the best resurfacing work. I don’t dabble in chemistry with my face, - I’m afraid of acids, retinols and heavy stuff-and my skin heals beautifully.

Medical lasers, medical professionals, not beauty products pushers. Way to go is listening to the doctors.

I always wonder about the following: People say to go to someone with experience… but how do you gain experience if no one comes to you cause you lack experience? 😅

I’ve lost all faith in doctors - and the Healthcare System, in general, in the United States. I’m not saying this without plenty of good reasons. Just don’t care to get into it. Protect yourself.

Red flag No. 4 is quite true. My sister visited *(accompanying her friend) a cosmetic? (not sure if it 's a cosmetic dermatologist clinic or other type clinic) dermatologist in 2019 and the doctor directly recommended for her to do laser for her acne scarring when she was looking for treatment options. The clinic is actually famous for promoting laser as their best treatment. She never went back to the clinic after her 1st visit cos she wasn't interested laser plus with my family skin tone doesn't match with the laser treatment (she's fairer than the rest of my family but our skin tone is roughly type 3-4 and the clinic predominantly treat patient with type 1-2 skin tone).
