After stopping low carb as a 55 yr old menopausal woman, my hair stopped falling out, I can sleep 8-9 hours, my cortisol balanced, and I poop very well every day on time. I was on keto for years and suffered for years. My hyperglycemia and blood sugar issues stopped, too. Thank you, Paul!!

I still think the best way to get healthy is start keto to get fat adapted then go carnivore as an elimination diet to feel amazing- then start introducing new carbs slowly and take note on how you feel and changes. After that you have a guide on what you can eat and what you should stay away from its easy.

You mentioned "raises cortisol long term" but the study was for only 4 weeks!!

In 4 weeks you are not keto adapted.

Hey Dr Saladino, I'm 16 years old and I have been following your diet advice pretty closely since October (aside from a small coffee weekly to help me get to school). I was out of shape and sedentary until mid-end of 2021 due to personal health problems (I was chronically ill, I won't get into it). I started exercising atleast an hour or two 5-6 days a week, but I felt like something was missing. I was eating the right macronutrients, but they were pretty processed and lacking in micronutrients. When I started eating like you, I started to lose body fat and sleep better. 4 months later and I weigh ~10 lbs less. All fat, preserved my muscle. I look better than pretty much all of my classmates without a shirt. My skin is clearer now too. I made my mom and dad start eating like me and while it's definitely more pricy my parents look and feel better as well. It's ok, health is priceless. Never stop doing what you do. I feel like I owe it all to you. Thanks for everything Dr.

Adding fruit for me only works when exercising. Also triggers my over eating tendencies and my swollen tummy symptoms come back and sweet tooth also comes back. Carnivore in its pure form works best for me with occasional keto diet when I am in social situations. For me fruit is nothing but a treat on very special occasions and in very small servings.

Every single morning I do something that elevates my cortisol. I wake up.

I look and feel about 15 years younger than I actually am, so don't agree with you at all that keto diet ages you faster, quite the opposite in fact, both with my own experience and observation of so many others. Seems like you are looking for every reason you can to justify your new carb intake and the evidence you have to support it is really quite questionable.

Paul I love the balance you bring to carnivore. Keto changed my life, brought my brain back online. Carnivore healed my gut and helped me figure out which plants I could tolerate (very few). Your animal -based diet suits my body perfectly. I'm 90% healed of my ME after 3 years of purposeful eating. So grateful that I was able to learn from all you carni legends on YouTube

Tried being a veggie for roughly 6 months, vegan around a year, then pescatarian for 6months ish and all of them ruined me. Keto was amazing. Saw brilliant results pretty quick but animal based has been by far the best so far. I’m in the best shape of my life, I feel great and I love the meals. Iv watched this guy for a while now and I can’t help but ram this diet down everyone I know’s throat but no one believes how good eating red meat is. I’m not sure why there’s such a stigma against it and I also can’t believe how many people look at me weird when I say how bad veg and seed oils are for us. It’s almost like a conspiracy theory, we’ve been told how good olive oil and veg oils are for us and red meat is bad for us. The false information out there seems like it’s been put out there to make us sick.
Keep up the good work and keep spreading your message Paul. People need to know this

I know Paul doesn't eat eggs, because he regards them as coming from unhealthy chickens with excessive linoleic acid getting into their eggs, but if you do eat eggs you are unlikely to suffer from electrolyte problems.
Eggs have many of the nutrients that can sometimes be deficient on a carnivore diet. And if you don't eat fatty fish (Paul doesn't) then eggs are the only source of EPA & DHA omega 3 fatty acids.

A recent study on PubMed says "Ketogenic diet prevents methylglyoxal-evoked nociception by scavenging methylglyoxal".
Also another study on PubMed states that cortisol increased during the first 3 weeks of a low-carbohydrate diet, but afterwards, resting cortisol appears to return to baseline.
So Keto is not detrimental at all.

Keto can have a lot of high oxalate foods included which is a confounding variable. Oxalates could be the very reason that keto diets don't work that well and why people see benefits switching from keto to carnivore. So the more fair comparison would be carnivore (no oxalates) versus carnivore plus fruit like Paul does. Making sure to only do low oxalate fruits.

Looking forward to when this channel will be rebranded "CarbohydrateMD", since we haven't been doing carnivore for a long time now.

Before recommending quitting KETO, KETOVORE, and CARNIVORE I think it’s important look at what went wrong and why. There is no one way to do carnivore and it’s important to look at the diet approaches of current 5-10+ year carnivores (Shawn Baker, Anthony Chafee, Judy, and Bart Kay) who are still thriving. Carnivore MD starting having issues with his approach that put a lot of emphasis on beef and organs. The thriving carnivores that I mentioned before do not follow this approach. In fact, they put little to no emphasis on organs and focus mainly on the meat. They don’t shy away from pork, chicken, fish, dairy and eggs either. I think it’s important to try an approach that seems to be working for the majority before throwing in the towel completely. Organs are great but too much maybe the problem.

How much stress does exercise add to the body? Should we also stop exercising? Fasting and OMAD adds stress to the body. Just how relevant is the stress/cortisol increase from a low carb diet?

You need to interview Jason Fung, one of the biggest proponents of Keto. I don't agree with your conclusions about Keto. If you really want to get people to hear you about this then you need to interview and have a friendly debate with top keto science practitioners.

Following your advice I've found a diet that makes me feel great and that I actually enjoy, and it makes evolutionary sense to eat this way. I've tried keto and pure carnivore, with keto it just seemed unnatural to eat that much fat and I felt was a lot of work, carnivore was too restrictive, and both just made me feel like I was missing out on something. Now, in my late 30s, I'm in the best shape of my life and feel better than I've ever felt. Really appreciate your work Dr. Saladino, keep it up and ignore the haters

Quite a few people on this comments section cannot think critically, it seems. Paul's clearly talking about the negative aspect of Keto diets, which is helpful for people who are experiencing side effects, but aren't listened to by the Keto and Carnivore communities. If Keto's working for you, great, carry on. Just be aware of potential issues long term, that's all. It's the same with any diet. It's crazy how people can just go, 'well it worked for me, ' and 'you've aged terribly', and just being downright rude and dogmatic, applying a one size fits all approach to everything, without being to discern that you can use the information to inform your decisions, or not. That's it.

I couldn't care less if you're Carnivore, Keto, Vegan, Paleo, etc, if it's working for you, and you look and feel great, and your blood work is good, then carry on! We all want to be healthy on the inside and out. Just use the videos as sources of information to inform your final decision. You can choose to listen and implement, or listen and do something else. We're all different. Lifestyles aren't supposed to be tribal.

That much carbs and fructose is not for everybody… specially someone already metabolically compromised. For healthy individuals that is the optimum diet but for some, therapeutic keto or proper carnivore is the way to go with occasional healthy carb refeed scheduled days if the individual desires or needs it as others myself included feel better on no outsource of carbs at all just upping up my protein for my body to produce more thru the liver pathway. I went from vegan to keto to carnivore. I’ve been carnivore for 1 year now without any carbs except the trace amounts in eggs, homemade kefir, and the occasional liver and my stress has been better than when I was on keto with fruits as my allowable carbs and my once a week carb up day. I agree with you that the paleo diet which you rebranded as your animal based diet is the proper human diet as we are currently a specialized omnivore/carnivore…. But you sir with your animal based diet seemed to have aged fast compared to when you were a carnivore advocate. Metabolic flexibility is what makes humans special … but for those just not genetically or physically equipped to handle honey and fruits in the amounts you suggest… clean carnivore or keto may be the better diet.🧐

Been on carnivore for three years and haven't eaten any veggies or fruit. I only eat meat and eggs however, I do supplement with zinc and magnesium. I also use Methylene Blue as an anti oxidant and Potassium Nitrate to help my body produce Nitric Oxide which keeps my blood pressure where it should be and provides me with great recovery from my resistance training of three days full body workout three time a week. I am eighty - two years of age, feel great, take no prescription medications and hope that I never do.
