Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

The AEB is pretty darn good for 70 to 0 serious crash avoidance. Nice little car, looking at the S and just hoping I fit in it! (6ft 4).

Both curtain airbags always go off in any front or side collision? Only 3 are beneficial in these tests (driver side curtain in the side, pole and maybe front offset test). There wasn't any reason for any of the passenger side curtain airbags to deploy but we gotta make a show for the cameras, right? The XC90 didn't deploy any curtains in the front tests and got a near record 97% for occupant protection. Volvo power!

It is missing to say here that several of these safety measures are actually optional extras. The lane departure, the AEB, even the side airbags I believe ... so next time, please do the test without the extras ha? :D
