Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

I had an MG ZT 2022, bought July 2022.

In late November a car crossed the median strip and hit the back of my car, my car did a semi spin, I then went over the median strip (the lawn part in the middle of roads, I don’t know exactly what they’re called) I hit a car on the opposite side, smashed into their back door and the side of the boot, did another semi spin then kept going and had a spilt second decision, hit a house or hit one of 2 Gumtrees, huge trees. I chose the tree, slam!!
I can still hear the impact and my brakes squealing.

The damage to the car was the right hand fender all the way up to the windscreen, and the wheel was taken off it’s wheel hub (?) and had turned backwards, sort of hanging there almost under my door. (In Australia, we drive on the opposite side compared to the US.)

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some sort of protection, solid steel or something that stopped me from being seriously injured, hard to explain, the damage to the car stopped at the dashboard/windscreen . I sat there stunned, shaking and wondering how I wasn’t hurt, not even a bruise. The windscreen didn’t even smash.
Couldn’t get out of my door, had to climb over to the passenger seat and helped out, not very lady like, lol.

It was insured and I bought another MG ZT. I would have bought the MG ZST for the extra safety features but it was $7, 000 more.

I didn’t know this but apparently what I did when I saw the tree getting closer is the right thing to do, so for those that didn’t know this, i hope you’re never put in a situation like this, but for future reference, I put both hands on the steering wheel and pushed my back and my head into the seat, keeping my arms stretched out holding the steering wheel.

Anyone who’s been in a car accident says it’s like in slow motion but you actually only have a second or split second to make a decision.

I sat there and could not believe I was ok, slam into a car then into a tree. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know how I walked away uninjured.
Either someone was watching over me, or there is some sort of safety feature in the MG.

Going by this video, the car looked like it was going at high speed and no damage any further than the windscreen..

My brand new car was written off meaning the cost to repair ($23, 000!!) was the same price or more or pretty close to what the car cost and what it was insured for.

Euro ncap remove stars if all new car doesn't have lane departure and autobraking radar systems . It should have got a 4 star really ! . So for a really cheap car it is pretty safe . Ford Mustang got the same rating .

MG ZS is not a safe car. Seen one accident the car engine Detached and went into the front passenger and driver. 2 people died.

A car full made of soft steel... no hardened steel on the pillars or main frame lol... yes it absorb energy at low speed but the car goes totalled you cant repair it... even with that this car got 3/5 stars only... and at high speeds the soft steel car frame just cant hold... get for a bit more money at least a car with the cabin made of hardened steel frame, china had a problem with steel quality because a lack of hardened steel thanks to the construction boom that happened there.

Everyone here commenting how this car is a mazda ripoff but can’t appreciate the bang for the buck of this car and especially it’s being made by china who only has experience with cars less than 20 years

It seems that a LOT of people ranting here, bought this car without knowing:
1. The car is manufactured in China with poor quality standards
2. The car is just not as safe as any competitor.
3. The car attempts to look luxurious but it's just a cheap car.
