I know few people who interrupt frequently and puts me into a stance of defence. interrupting back is putting fire into gasoline. I learned to take a step back and let them finish their thoughts, and then they would usually become soft. Every time they interrupt, I stop, I mentally take a step back and listen to them, they usually stop interrupting lol. If they keep on going and do not allow me talk, I avoid talking with them as much as I can. The thing is I was the one who would interrupt people years ago, i learned that I did that because I never been listened to in childhood, and teenage years. To stop interruption is to start listening, and learn to take a giant step back so that interruption would not hurt you.

Notes

- Accept that you have the right to complete your story/statement (obviously within reason, this isn’t a filibuster).

- Hold your palm up and say “hold on a second, let me finish” UNLESS it is your boss/superior

- Practice *continuing* what you’re saying when people interrupt.

- assume you’re equal in the social hierarchy

- “Nice” seems good on paper, bad in practice

I interupt stupid people. They add 3x the words nessisqry for their point because they like to hear themselves talk. It is extremely difficult to not interupt. I have a thought and then I have a problem holding on to that thought. They keep talking and my thought changes and I end up talking about a different point.

Becquse of this, I never win an arguement, or rather I never feel understood.
