I'm menopausal and I started taking this for this very reason. So I sleep so good I don't know if I night sweating or not. When I wake up the next morning I'm so refreshed and ready for the day. A very clear description. Thank-you. Listeners might be interested to know that studies show that magnesium in our food has decreased 80 - 90% over the last century, due largely to farming methods.
Blood tests for Magnesium tests are pretty meaningless, since only 1% of our magnesium is in the blood - the method suggested here is try it and see if you benefit - is sensible, I think, since magnesium is safe upto much higher levels than a daily maximum.
It is also worth saying that magnesium absorption needs to be taken into account. If our Vitamin D is low, as it so often is in the UK, or if we are taking proton pump inhibitor such a omeprazole we may not absorb magnesium properly and we have to get those things right before we can benefit from magnesium supplements.
Finally, AVOID MAGNESIUM OXIDE. It is poorly absorbed, around 4%, mostly in the colon, too late to help sleep or migraine. Yet it is often used in supplements.

My magnesium level is 1.1 I am getting magnesium infusions. I got up to 1.4 but this last few weeks has dropped to 1.1.

Thanks for the insightful presentation. The problem with natural magnesium foods such as dark chocolate, almonds and spinach is the high concentration of oxalates. Would you suggest taking the supplement form instead?
