I’m 65 and started taking Magnesium Glycinate for the first time last night, a brand from Costco called Nature’s Bounty. I don’t know if it is chelated or not. Anyway my first night’s experience was great, I slept better than I have for a while. I’m hoping this helps my insomnia in the long term.

I've struggled with sleep for years because I'm type 1 diabetic & this causes me to urinate often. Without fail, I would struggle to get to sleep regardless of when I got to bed & I'd be waking up every 1-2 hours for no reason, but always needing to pee in small amounts. Now, I've never to my knowledge slept a full 6, 7 or 8 hours. I've always woken up at the minimum, every 2-3 hrs 3x a night & when it comes to getting up, I feel so tired, Its very hard & I'm left groggy for most of the morning.

Now, I started taking Magnesium Glycinate & for the first few weeks I didn't notice anything & I was a little unsure if it was beneficial to continue. But then like flicking a switch I noticed a change. I didn't sleep for a solid 6, 7 or 8 hours. I kept waking up every 2-3 hrs for a pee. But when I went to bed, I fell right to sleep & every time I woke up, after my toilet break, I fell right back to sleep. And after about 8 hrs in bed, I would wake up wide awake, full of energy ready to go.

I also discovered that having 2-3 hr blocks of sleep at a time 3 times a night is normal, its how we used to sleep a few hundred yrs ago, until modern comforts & technology changed it. Some people benefit from a full solid block of sleep, some benefit from 3 blocks of 2-3 hours at a time & I'm one of those.

So I would highly recommend it if you're anything like me. I only wish I knew about it sooner.

Hi Dr Kim, I am 71 and have had High Blood pressure diagnosed about 30 years ago. I take medication every day but my readings are ridiculously high especially at night when I am resting e.g. 180 over 90 and sometimes scarily higher. I started taking a Magnesium blend of Glycinate, Citrate, Laureate, Malate, Rotate and Lactate providing Elemental Magnesium. In the same capsule there is Viamin B6, Zinc and VitaminD3. My BP reading tonight was 120 over 79. I occasionally get some high readings still but I have never had low readings like these at night until I started taking this supplement. Just astonishing. I take one capsule of Vitabright (British company) Magnesium 6 in 1 Complex every day.

Great vid! Subbed. A lot of magnesium is sold as magnesium carbonate - which is close to magnesium oxide, eg bioavailability pretty low.

I take Magnesium Bisglycinate made by Canadian company Jadin Nutraceuticals because it is the only one I have been able to find that doesn't have magnesium stearate, which is a flow agent that is hard on the liver. I take one in the morning and about 2 hrs before bed I take Magnesium-L Threonate made by another Canadian company called Organika. This helps with my sleep and menopause transition brain
