Whenever I avoid stalling. I feel like there should be a crowd clapping and celebrating for me

If the person behind you gets too incensed, then just selectively shift into "R" for "R"evenge.

The pressure is worse when people don't understand your learning manual and people are honking and you start sweating and anxiety kicking in

"Not stalling" and "Beginner" don't go in the same sentence.

*When the car is about to stall, push the clutch back in fast in order to avoid needing to restart the car.*

You're welcome

I bought my first manual almost two weeks ago. My parents have always owned them. With watching them, I understood the concept very well. I can hear when it needs to go into a higher or lower gear. Before buying this car I had tried driving 3 manuals. All of them were very different from the other. This one was no exception. I started in a empty parking lot. My friend was wondering why I asked for lessons due to being able to get it into first without much trouble. I told him that it was because I wasn't sure when to upshift or how. Little did I know, that was the easiest part of all. I felt confident enough in my ability, I decided to make a run to the store. BIG MISTAKE! I got the car started, when into reverse for the first time, got to the end of my complex, made a full stop, got it going in first, then second, then third without a problem. I was SUPER EXCITED and very proud. I was smiling like an idiot. I approached a red light. "I got this" with a smile still in my face. Nope. I kept stalling through 3 lights. Cars behind me were honking, flashing their headlights and I was stressing out big time. My smile went from big and bright to a huge frown and tears. Thankfully a truck with two men in it asked if I needed help. One knew how to drive a stick so they drove me home. It was extremely embarrassing, frustrating and caused me not to drive the car. Since then, I practice in quiet neighborhoods with stop signs to get a better grasp on how to get it rolling into first. I still stale occasionally trying to give it too much gas and releasing the clutch too soon. This guy is COMPLETELY 100% correct. PUSH THE CLUTCH BEFORE STALING!!!! It will save you time from having to start over and getting anxiety due to rude drivers. Take your time!!! But before you decide to get on the road with other drivers make sure you're completely comfortable and don't take too much time. Relax. Practice makes perfect.

Stalled 3 times at a 4 way today 😅 person behind me luckily didn't honk...must've know I was a 5 speed noob. Gonna take it to a big giant parking lot to learn tomorrow. My biggest concern is traffic. But I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

I got stuck on a stop light with 2 car behind so I rev the engine to like 5k and put it in first and it launched me

Good tip. What happens is all this knowledge evaporates when people honk their gut off that would make a beginner nervous. During that time in a hurry no matter how many times, the clutch is released very quick and stall

I'm just a beginner in manual driving and I'm anxious especially when there are other cars along with me. I don't like causing trouble to them what if I stall or if I drive too slow for them and they might never understand. Soooo glad to know someone like this guy who understands.

Driving teacher: "don't get nervous when you stall the engine, not like someone will talk about your failure in a youtube video"

The point when you feel your car moving is called 'bite point' in the UK, we mostly use manual cars so thanks for this video it's handy for new drivers.

Does stalling hurt the car? Apart from my dignity.

You’re so sweet! That was literally me the first few times I drove a manual car! I stalled at red lights a few times when it turned green. I was so embarrassed but people were not rude thank goodness!
