On Moto Control channel you will find videos about motorcycles, motorcycle riding techniques, tips & tricks and online motorcycle training for beginner and advanced riders!
A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉

Since everyone writes this, it's necessary, I suppose 🤷, so here we go. Disclaimer: Ride at your own risk, you are responsible for your own safety. Me, Andrey Bodrov and my channel, Moto Control disclaim any liability incurred in connection with the use of riding techniques from this channel. Use common sense, wear full protective gear and ride in a safe and predictable manner!

Another simple rule to follow in addition: When coming to near-standstill, gradually shift to the rear brake while easing off the front brske alltogether. Not only is it more convenient in preventing that annoying “mini dive” of the front fork but it also enables you to concentrate on throttle control without having to fiddle with the front brake at the same time.

As my motorcycle instructor taught his freshmen: „At walking speed there is no benefit in using the front brake at all — unless you’re keen on getting to know the pavement a little better.“

In essence: Front is for power braking — rear is for finesse braking.

An issue I had at first was after preloading the throttle just a little bit, my bike would accelerate too fast for my liking with a little clutch. Took awhile to find that sweet spot of throttle to give.

I wish I found this video before I took my Basic Rider Course. More informative than my in person class.

Yup this is the way! Stalling was super constant and frustrating for me in the beginning until I learned the techniques you talk about here. Should be part of basic training courses for beginners IMO! Great vid, thanks for sharing the knowledge

I would practice this on my big cruiser, and my friends were amazed at how long I could actually stop and stay up without having to put my feet down. I practiced no-foot stops at almost every stop sign as well. Now I have a new Goldwing, and it's a completely different ride, so I'm back to getting a feel for this one and trying to master the slow speed skills on it as well. Stalling is not a problem, but the dynamics of the bike are much different than my cruiser. Thanks for your great videos! I always enjoy them!

Great video. You show how important control of the bike is, even on the basics like taking off and stopping.

The title should be "Do THIS and Never Stall your bike again (unless you forgot to downshift)" xD. I can drive off in 2nd gear but it certainly takes a bit more finesse than starting off in first gear and if I don't realize I'm still in second, the stall usually happens.

Thanks for the lesson though, they're all helpful! One topic you've covered somewhat in various videos, but which I still struggle with, is proper throttle control while doing slow (near full-lock) turns. While I know I have to relax my arms and keep hold of the throttle lightly, my body tends to tense up when doing (near full-lock) turns, resulting in a lot of throttle (and noise). I realize this is a niche topic, but I figure you might have some tips/exercises specifically for this topic.

My best friend taught me clutch control on a hill. Nothing super steep, the bike would pull itself up without throttle but if you let off the brake too soon it would roll back. He made me hold the clutch at the friction point until I knew where it was. And then he made me practice dropping the clutch to friction point, and no further. I still spend as much time as possible practicing these methods and I can confidently say my clutch control is mastered, and continues to get better.

Awesome video as always ! Can you make a video about how to sit/use the legs in the bike? im in moto school and sometimes when i practice the figure 8, my hand pulls on the throttle and being in 1st gear, the bike jerks immediately . I figured it is because i put too much weight on my arms/hands but that feels comfortable to me generally. So i always have to think to scoot back on the bike but i always end up in the same situation again..

Its hard when you do this on a bike that doesnt move with the friction zone its hard to know if you are overdoing it

I thought I'd watch this video because all of your videos are absolutely excellent but strangely enough, I've been riding nearly 5 years now and I've actually never stalled a bike! That is, until yesterday where I stalled on purpose to see what it was like 😂
Obviously this is from memory, there isn't a single instance that I can remember where I've stalled the bike, riding, parking, handling the bike, just never happened for me.
I've been driving 13 years and riding bikes around 7, although 5 years on the road, but even off road I don't think I've ever stalled.
I'm really writing this message to anyone else who has never stalled a bike, try it, its informative!
It's quite a bit rougher than I would have imagined, on my sport bike anyway.
Thanks again for the great content!

Sad here in Cambodia my license only allows for 125cc and there is no creeping/biting point on those weak bikes, need more CCs
