How to NOT STALL Motorcycle on a Hill

This brief "how to" video quickly explains the best way for beginning motorcycle riders to not stall on an uphill slope from a stop. Instructions are given slower and more deliberately than other videos, and hopefully this will make your rides through the hills and mountains a little more enjoyable! Keep the rubber side down, and happy riding!

Today I stalled twice on a hill, and since there were cars behind me I got off my bike and started pushing it lol. I'm glad I've just seen this vid

Thanks man I stalled at least 20x today on the absolute smallest of hills man I wish I watched this video. I didnt even think to use the back brake I had to finesse the front brake, clutch and gas LMAO Shit was crazy.

Oh my God, man. Thank you so much. I almost popped a wheelie doing this completely wrong. Well, I did pop a wheelie, , scared the shit out of me. I'm 50 years old. Not a teenager anymore.

A complete noob tip is, do it backwards. Press the rear brake just enough to not roll backwards, ( quite a soft press). Find the bike's clutch point ( where the 1st gear starts to engage) now just give enough gas as the bike doesn't lose any rpm. This way you know exactly when the bike is actually biting the gears, if you have a light enough brake application you might even feel the bike wanting to go. Now you just release your brake and you can coast away! Think of your rear brake as a sort of parking brake / emergency brake on a manual car.

This is one of the biggest things i need to practice, especially since I have a hill just a quarter mile away from my apartment complex I must get over to even get to the main road. I'm very new and the only time I I've ridden so far (owned the bike less than a month) and I lost count the amount of times I stalled (didn't help I was in uniform at the time).

I'm so worried about stalling on a hill the last time I had to do it I gave it way too much throttle and lifted the front wheel!

👍👍👍👍👍👍 Excellent video.
Yeah I have stalled multiple times at a stop sign, traffic lights etc.
You should have seen me go around a roundabout last night. From memory at one stage both of my feet were hanging off the pegs. 😆

Thank you for keeping the "outtakes" in the video! Now I don't feel as bad.

The other day i stalled 4 times tryna start halfway up a hill while a driver was waiting for me so he could go, in the end he got out and pushed me up lol. Was embarrassing but wholesome, so i definitely need to work on hill-starts. (Honda Cbr125r)

That also works for loading your bike onto a trailer, that something I learned just by happenstance when I couldn't push my bike up the ramp. I ride dual sport and it something you instinctively need to know how to do, good example of how to do this here. Keep ridin!
