In this video I will guide you through the Soothing Rhythm Breathing exercise. This exercise was developed by Paul Gilbert the founder of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

The way we breathe has a significant impact upon our nervous system, which in turn impacts our feelings, behaviour and the way we think. By practicing a soothing breathing rhythm we can change our physiology and help activate our soothing system. This can dampen down our threat system and help stabilise our emotions and thoughts.

Hi Teresa, this was lovely. I find the ones elsewhere not of great quality at times (even Gilbert's own resources have a lot of distracting background noises). Thank you for this.
