There is no magical cure for back pain, nor does a single exercise work for everybody...everything with back pain is a "it depends..." approach. But I have seen this tip be very effective in a lot of cases.

Remember though, this won't fix the underlying issues, but it does at least get you moving (which is part of working on the underlying issues)...

I had my lower back muscles so stiff that I couldn’t even get up and stand straight. This video was a savior. Got me fixed in a couple stretches. Thank you. And yes, stay hydrated everyone. Water plays a big role in saving your lower back.

Thank you for trying to help. I saw another video that was the exact technique done using the arm of a couch for ppl who can’t get to the floor and back up. I have an amputated leg and my back is deteriorated so badly I have no disc left in my L4-L5. As well as many other issues. I’ve got to do something the pain is intolerable and I get steroid injections! And light pain meds that aren’t enough. You were right when you said our back is in constant tension! It’s cramped without stopping. Especially living alone, disabled and trying to do spring yard work! I feel like my life stopped years ago and I’m 56! Was a super strong farm girl. Now I’m broken. Thank you.

Thank you. I will try this even though I'm mortified about going down on the ground as it takes me least an hour to get back up.

Bruuuh all of a sudden i got off the couch n fell to the ground with excruciating backpain, n could not move, i did this for literally less than 3 minutes n the pain is gone n i am walking... so THANK U SO MUCH!

This is the most amazing cure for the pain I was feeling for days! I used a rolled up towel.
I am so incredibly grateful to be walking again and finally feeling some pain relief.

I pulled a lower back muscle a few days ago lifting and tried this stretch out. 15 minutes later and my pain was gone. Seriously amazed at how the body works! Thank you!!

Thank you so much for this. I started these exercises yesterday after 8 days of not being able to move much at all. I found the exercises incredibly difficult at first, had to split the 40 reps into two sets of 20 on each leg and could only raise my heel up about an inch, but even after the first set of 20 I found was standing up a bit straighter immediately afterwards. It got slightly easier with each set and I increased my reps to 40 four times a day. 24 hours later I have gone from taking 5 minutes to get off the sofa, to being able to walk around the house unaided and have even unloaded and loaded the dishwasher without help! It doesn't sound like much, but having gone from being fit and active one week to being unable to move the next, being able to carry out basic household tasks feels amazing! I'll keep going with these exercises and hope to be fully active again soon.

I've suffered from a herniated disc triggering back spasms for around 12 years now. I'm in the middle of a bad episode over the last 2 weeks of not being able to stand up straight. This really worked for me. I know it's a temporary solution, but thank you very much as I can finally stand up straight after applying these exercises as shown. I really appreciate this and it's so simple. Thank you so much for sharing this!

I NEVER comment of videos, but I jacked my back last night and couldn't stand up straight and was in pain. Slept 3 hours and worse pain and even more hunched this morning. Found this video, got my foam roller, did 3 sets of 40 (and yes it hurt!!) and while I am sore I am standing up straight and can actually walk. This video is AMAZING. Thank you so much Brian for posting it.

This worked really well! Could not stand straight, did 15 per leg and was upright with no pain. Did 25 per leg later in the day and 40 per side the next...feel 85% better in 24 hours! Really really hurts to bend knee but "good hurt". Thank you so much!

brilliant i was on severe pain, as i lift 200kg during gardening, 3 days stuck and you solved it in 10min. thanks man. i couldn't stand straight and now i can!.. i can't believe it. pain is not completely gone, but i'm able to walk again..

I had sudden back pain and was limping around in the hunched over position he demonstrates in this video. I was in pain for 2 days wondering when it would end, couldn't stand up straight. I didn't have a foam roller so I tried his technique it on a rolled up yoga mat. It was a miracle, I couldn't believe I was able to stand up straight seconds after I finished this stretch. I'm still in shock, it was so simple!! Thank you so much, you've saved me days of pain!!!
