Well the time arrived to split the pollination bees so I recruited Justin to help me and we got it done. It was a long and busy day, but lots of fun. We used an easy technique where finding the queen is not necessary and things went well. Thanks Justin for all the help!!!

@brucesbees is a beekeeping channel, a vlog of sorts. Here we discuss apis mellifera, aka the honeybee. We give people a look into our sideliner beekeeping operation. We share successes and failures. We show how we feed bees and treat bees for pests, such as varroa mites, small hive beetles and others. I am not a treatment free beekeeper though at one time I thought I wanted to be. We also discus things that are important to us that I think apply to beginning beekeepers and more seasoned beekeepers alike. We also show the beekeeping techniques we use to manage the bees and harvest our honey and sell our honey. We talk about beekeeping equipment and tools. At times we also catch swarms of bees and have even done a few cutouts, though I usually leave that for the professionals. This is not Beekeeping 101, though hopefully the information here is useful. As my good friend @Mike Barry says, this is not a necessarily a "how to" channel. It's a "how I do" channel. I hope you will continue to join us as we continue to perform hive inspections, discuss important matters in the beekeeping world, meet other beekeepers, perform splits, grow our operation and just continue down the path of this wonderful beekeeping adventure. Let's GO!!!

Great video Bruce! We used the same method just this week for our splits. Teamwork makes it so much easier. When Chris, Natalee and I get into a groove we get the job done rather smoothly. Thanks for sharing!

well we had what they say is last snow till next winter. It is to warm up some this week up here. Hope to see some tree start to pop. maybe 1st of may we can start to graft. The girls with feed and sub at the moment are doing good. Used all the nukes we wintered to replace some dead outs and had to pinch off a couple Queens that where on a fail. But all good up here and looking good Bruce my friend.

Hey Bruce,
Really enjoying your videos. Why not set up some queen breeder hives and make your own queens? You have some great looking bees.

@brucebees. Where do you order your queens from I’m requeening in July and I want good queens.

Bruce, I hope all of these splits accepted their new Queen and are doing great. I know that you’ve been working very hard for the last couple of months. It’s about time to take it easy for a few weeks and let them make money I mean honey. lol Is the privet blooming yet in your area?

50s? That's chilly for your area this time of year, isn't it? We might get to freezing tomorrow night. I'm so over winter! Thanks for the video.

Bruce, aren't you going to have to check all those splits for emergency queen cells since they will be queenless for three days?

Do you have your supers below your brood boxes? With an excluder, I assume?

How do you handle drainage with your pallets? I'm palletizing my bees for the first time this year. Pallets are built, just got clips on them, now trying to figure how how many drainage holes are necessary.

Going to try to send around 40 to almonds next year!

Thanks for sharing!!

Good job Bruce. Is that 48 hives to the bee yard? Looked like 12 pallets. I've been running 7 pallets to the yard for years for honey production.

Have you heard or experienced problems with 5G cell signals killing and/or chasing away your bees? I am hearing things that sound like scare fables about this but want to learn if this is happening.
