Where people get hung up on Romans 4:5-8 is they think that Paul was talking about deeds of the Law only, thus they want to claim that you can't be saved by faith apart from any deeds. As if your deeds they, their church, or their tradition came up with with are greater than the deeds of the Law and can justify, and without which no one is justified. Problem is, Abraham was justified before God without any Law and without any deeds, it was entirely God's promise to him which he received by faith in Genesis 15:6.

Great point and refutation! Works and belief are contrasted in Romans 4:5 but they insist that belief is a work. *Calvinists simply do not believe the bible!*

Romans 4:5
But to him that *worketh not, but believeth* on him that justifieth the UNGODLY, his faith is counted for righteousness.

The bible tells us SALVATION is a gift from God. Calvinists think it says FAITH is a gift from God

4:40 I thought that Calvinists believed that faith was only a work if God doesn't give you the faith. They believe that it's a work even if God gives it to them??
