I work retail and there are power hours 10-2. Means no tasking (customer service only).My Smiths grocery does this announcements as do a number of stores I visit.This is the best time to dumpster dive because everyone stops tasking-stocking, throwing garbage etc etc. Hope this in site helps 😏😉

You both have inspired me to check the trash at my local drug store. Since I pass by every few days, can't resist walking around back for a peek in the dumpster. It's paid off and I really enjoy the challenge. There's a camera mounted above so I limit my stay to a few minutes only and have not been approached by any employee so far. I went to my aldi yesterday I got a ton of returned clothes and slippers and peppers it is diffrent everyday I go love you frugal family

Packaging is a factor in meat also. If it is still vacuum pack sealed, chances are it is still good. We have yet to become sick from anything we have found in the dumpster. Great video! Hope the new year is going well!

I am so glad I "found" your channel. You have inspired me! When I took my first trip to a store, it was around midnight and their delivery driver was there. I was climbing out of the dumpster when he saw me. He said, "hello" and I said "hi there", and that was it 🤗 He got in his truck, did his paperwork, left, and I went on about diving.

The other day (Saturday), I went to a different store around 6 something a.m. A bit later I noticed a car pull up. I got what I had gathered and drove out of there. I watched from afar when another car pulled up. Turned out it was the opening crew. These people see me almost every week, and I didn't want them seeing me in their dumpster😲
I realized that going during the late night, no one is out and you're pretty much alone. Thanks again for the inspiration! You two are great😎😎😎

Same thing happened to my daughter a few years ago .Went to the hospital in agony, lots of tears and drama. That loud fart cost her over a thousand dollars. That was the one and only time I've been glad we live in different countries!!!

I made the being there as employees arrive mistake at Michael's. It was my first real dive and in a city away from where I live. Still kicking myself for the 20 perfect lanterns the manager threw back in hard and busted all the glass when she busted me! Needless to say I learned my lesson. If early, do it way before people arrive, load as I have a box or handful, don't be greedy and don't get so engrossed in what I am doing that I don't notice what else is going on. You two are awesome!

Inspired we went out this afternoon. Hit Aldi 's and Fareway, picked up a big bottle of Era laundry soap, 2 flavors of brioche, oranges, onions, sweet red peppers, bacon - sell by date in March 2019 ! What we learned, bring a grabber ! Bring a flash light ! Let go of the stigma of thought that your digging in trash for food. Your harvesting !

My Aldi's is bad about destroying everything before they toss it out. It's such a terrible waste.

Plus, even if you catch someone taking trash out at a certain time, it could be completely different next time. My guess is garbage is taken out any time there’s a lot and/or someone has the time to do so.
