My mom with osteoarthritis, the doctors dont recommend this as the first line of treatment, extracting the fluid and injecting steriods or lubricants(if thats what they call) because it often relapse. What they recommend is exercise, no squatting, no climbing of stairs, collagen supplement and weight management

I had this done long time ago and the pain from that needle was so intense I almost passed out. Doctor was basically fishing for fluid in and out with the needle. I need this now but that incident is stuck in the back of my mind and I am just living with the pain.
